As the first professional artist from Britain to travel to the middle east and north Africa, Roberts’ journey through the region in the spring of 1839 was as ground-breaking and it was intrepid. The body of work that he created on and soon after these epic travels not only caused a sensation amongst his contemporaries but is still recognised today as one of the great artistic achievements of the entire 19th century.
Sotheby’s is thrilled to present for sale an extraordinary collection of thirty-five watercolours by Roberts whose subjects include many of the most iconic landscapes, cities and ancient monuments that he had the privilege to visit. Assembled over a period of more than a quarter of a century by a most passionate and discerning collector, the collection is considered the greatest of its type in private hands.

Walking among the Egyptian mummies, I bump into the glass reflection of Rosetta stone. Patnon sculptures under the cold stone folds, there are always tourists who look up and solidify into silhouettes. The cabinets were crowded than the exhibits, and in the celadon cracks in the East Asia hall, I caught a glimpse of my reflection like those wandering cultural relics, I didn&#39;t know the return date.

The Buckingham Palace Changing of the Guard ceremony is a symbolic royal cultural event in London. You should occupy a favorable position in advance. At the appointed time, the guards, wearing red uniforms and bearskin hats, enter the venue to the sound of the military band &quot;God Save the King&quot;. The old and new guards take over their posts. The scene is very shocking. A large number of tourists gather outside the iron gate, vying to witness the changing of the guard ceremony of the royal guard.

Night view

I was shivering in the cold and queued for 40 minutes. I spent all the money I saved by booking tickets online on hot cocoa. My feet were numb when the glass cabin rose to the middle of the air - the Thames River was twisted into a tinfoil ribbon, and Big Ben was as small as a Lego block. The night view was really amazing. When the purple ring lit up, the whole river looked like it was splashed with fluorescent paint. When I landed, my legs were weak. I looked back and saw the purple ring that had collapsed into a rag. I thought: It was worth it, but I will buy a fast ticket next time.

The Queen&#39;s favorite palace is very luxurious, but it is not allowed to take pictures. It can only be taken outside. When entering, a photo was taken and was stopped by the staff. Knowing the life of the royal family, Windsor Castle is generally very quiet.
