Derek was a founding member of Simple Minds and played on their first 6 albums including  New Gold Dream  and  Sparkle In The Rain . Who can ever forget his distinctive Basslines on songs like  Waterfront . Derek has also played on several other bands including The Alarm, Big Country and Propaganda. Derek was voted Best Bass player in the world and released his autobiography  A Very Simple Mind  in 2023 A night you'll really enjoy.
