Expanding the Animation Film - Cross-Cultural Exchange in 
Montréal

Come join us for a compelling lecture on animation practices in Canada by interdisciplinary artist and Fulbright Research Fellow in Animation, Vinicius de Aguiar Sanchez.
Since the early 20th century, Montréal has been at the center of a historical exchange between international animation filmmakers and regional cultures. Through archives and film analysis, Sanchez examines the underlying dialogues between local and immigrant perspectives that led to the development of an international animation language in Canada. As Animation continues to evolve, the research considers major questions of cultural exchanges today with a historical grounding of the expanding field.
Expanding the Animation Film - Cross-Cultural Exchange in 
Montréal
 and Canada
 
was conducted across moving Image archives and collections in Canada, including the National Film Board (ONF/NFB), the Cinémathèque Québécoise and the Visual Collections Repository(VCR) at Concordia University.
This in person event will be held at the Gail and Stephen A. Jarislowsky Institute for Canadian Studies, located on the 3rd floor (Room EV-3.711) at the 
Concordia Engineering And Visual Arts (EV) Building
. This Fulbright research lecture is hosted by the Visual Collections Repository and Concordia University.
