Variations is an evolving installation investigating the processes and power dynamics at play in a new era of photography.
Developed across four UK venues in 2024-25, Felicity Hammond (b. 1988, UK) uses artificial intelligence (AI) to map how digital photographic material makes its journey from mineral to pixel; and from beneath the Earth’s surface to the screen.
During the staging of the last two variations at Brighton and Derby, photographs and data were collected from the exhibition spaces and people in them. The collected data and images have been used as training sets for each subsequent variation, including V3: Model Collapse at The Photographers' Gallery. Like AI image creation, the reiteration of past datasets in each new work mimics the constantly evolving data sets that inform machine learning platforms.

Patnon sculptures under the cold stone folds, there are always tourists who look up and solidify into silhouettes. The cabinets were crowded than the exhibits, and in the celadon cracks in the East Asia hall, I caught a glimpse of my reflection like those wandering cultural relics, I didn&#39;t know the return date.

The Buckingham Palace Changing of the Guard ceremony is a symbolic royal cultural event in London. You should occupy a favorable position in advance. At the appointed time, the guards, wearing red uniforms and bearskin hats, enter the venue to the sound of the military band &quot;God Save the King&quot;. The old and new guards take over their posts. The scene is very shocking. A large number of tourists gather outside the iron gate, vying to witness the changing of the guard ceremony of the royal guard.

Night view

It was frozen for 40 minutes, and the money saved by booking online was fed to hot cocoa. When the glass cabin was lifted to half-empty, the soles of the feet were numb. The Thames River was twisted into a tinfoil belt at the foot. Big Ben was as small as a Lego block. The night view is really amazing, and the whole river is like fluorescent paint when the purple aura is lit. When the leg was soft, I looked back at the purple aperture that collapsed into a rag. I thought: It&#39;s worth it, but I have to buy a fast ticket next time I die.
