Join Alan Warner for a workshop on ‘hidden histories’ amid the rich Jacobite heritage of Leith Hall. Workshop participants are invited to submit a sample of their work for discussion on the day. Among the possible themes for discussion will be hidden pasts, family histories, battles and wars, and lost narratives. Poetry and prose welcome. The workshop will end with a short reading. The event will also include a tour of Leith Hall. Alan Warner is a Scottish writer and novelist, and the director of the Creative Writing MLitt at the University of Aberdeen. His Morvern Callar (1995) won the Somerset Maugham Prize and was adapted for the cinema by director Lynne Ramsay in 2002. Alan’s many other books include The Sopranos/Our Ladies (1998), The Man Who Walks (2002), The Stars in the Bright Sky (2010), Kitchenly 434 (2021), and Nothing Left to Fear From Hell (2023), the last of which concerns Prince Charles Edward Stuart’s travels round the highlands after the Battle of Culloden. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature. Workshop booking: £10
