Hukilau returns to South Florida June 5-8, taking up residence at the Beachcomber Resort and the legendary Mai-Kai in Pompano Beach.
This year, the four-day oceanfront extravaganza returns to Mai-Kai South Florida's legendary Polynesian restaurant and showplace. The restaurant was opened in 1956 by brothers Bob and Jack Thornton as one of dozens of tiki palaces that served pineapple chicken and Runrunners, but it was one of the fanciest of its time. At $350,000, it set a record for the most expensive restaurant ever built.
