Join artists Torkwase Dyson NA and Sarah Oppenheimer NA at the National Academy of Design in New York City for a thought-provoking conversation titled "In Tension: The Function of Body and Space." This engaging discussion, moderated by Untapped editor-in-chief Tiffany Jow, will delve into the artists' exploration of spatial awareness and their critical examination of the physical, social, and psychological effects of space. Through their work, Dyson and Oppenheimer question the limitations imposed on the body and seek to inspire a more fluid and intentional approach to engaging with the systems and structures of architecture that shape our everyday lives. 

To celebrate the one-year anniversary of the design journal Untapped, this event is co-presented with the journal and will be followed by a reception. Admission is free, but reservations are required. The event will take place on February 21, 2024, at 6:30 PM at the National Academy of Design, located at 519 West 26th Street Second Floor, New York, NY 10001. The venue is fully accessible to wheelchairs, and ASL interpretation or CART captioning services can be provided upon request. Bryant Park is adjacent to the New York Public Library. It is named after the American naturalist poet William Cullen Bryant and is a public space covering one block.

In the middle of the park is a large square lawn; on the east side is a statue of Bryant, with his back against the New York Public Library, looking at the tourists in the park; on the west side of the lawn is a fountain; and around it are a circle of tables and chairs for tourists to relax and rest.

Perhaps because it is in a busy city and next to the library, there are quite a lot of tourists in the park, it is very lively and full of life.
