Have you ever wanted to try game shooting but are unsure where to start? Or would you like to ensure that you’re well-prepared when you attend a shoot? Join us on 18 July at Grimsthorpe Estate Shooting Ground, where we will teach you everything you need to know about what to expect during a days game shooting. We will cover the following topics: - Best practice - Quarry recognition - Attire... Is tweed really necessary? - Gun safety, including how to hold and load your gun - Identifying which bird is yours - Tipping etiquette at the end of a successful day - Selecting the right cartridge and choke for the species you’re shooting - Do you need to change chokes between drives? - The role of gundogs and which breeds are best suited - The responsibilities of beaters and gamekeepers We will then check your guns before heading out to shoot various types of sustainable ammunition at driven targets. Date: July 18 – Cost: £75 for BASC members  If you’re not a BASC member and wish to attend, please Join – BASC. BASC membership is £95 per year (or just £9 per month), granting you all membership benefits, including access to our events and courses. Important Information: Attendees must be 18 years of age or older. Please bring your shotgun and certificate, eye and hearing protection and a cap. Guns must be nitro-proof, with chambers of 65mm or longer, choked less than half, and must be either 12 or 20 bore.
