NXTHVN is pleased to announce the upcoming annual Keynote event, featuring the distinguished photographer and historian, Dr. Deborah Willis. This year's Keynote Conversation, scheduled for May 2nd, will showcase Dr. Willis in dialogue with Dr. Kalia Brooks, the interim executive director and director of programs and exhibitions at NXTHVN. As a renowned artist, author, and curator, Dr. Willis serves as University Professor and chair of the Department of Photography and Imaging at Tisch School of the Arts, New York University. With a myriad of accolades to her name, including the prestigious MacArthur Fellowship, Dr. Willis will delve into pivotal moments from her illustrious career, such as her role as co-founder of the Black Portraitures conference and her recent collaboration with Getty Images to amplify Black history and empower storytellers. The event will take place at NXTHVN in New Haven, starting at 5:30PM, and admission is free on a first-come, first-served basis. Following the event, a recording of the conversation will be made available on the organization's website, allowing a wider audience to engage with the profound insights shared by Dr. Willis and Dr. Brooks.
