On August 13, 2024, The King's English Bookshop in Salt Lake City will host Lynn Buchanan: The Dollmakers. Doll lovers, do get prepared! The King's English Bookshop is a beloved independent bookstore located in Salt Lake City, Utah. Established on September 10, 1977, by Betsy Burton and Ann Berman, the bookstore has been a cornerstone of the local literary community for over four decades. The shop is known for its cozy, cottage-style atmosphere, with mismatched chairs and old book posters adorning the walls. It occupies a long yet narrow space, packed with books and with a small children’s-section treehouse wrapped in fairy lights  The bookstore has a reputation for its excellent staff, who are known for their great recommendations and warm, welcoming demeanor. 

It is also a hub for literary events, hosting book readings, signings, and author events that attract both established and emerging authors The King's English has been praised for its diverse selection of books and its commitment to supporting local authors and the broader literary community.

 In recent years, the bookstore has continued to evolve under the leadership of Calvin Crosby, who became a co-owner in 2021. Crosby, along with co-owner Holman, has been working to make the bookstore more inclusive and welcoming to historically underserved communities in Salt Lake City. This includes initiatives like a Pop-Up market featuring diverse local makers and collaborations with queer-focused bookshops.

Temple Square is also a very distinctive place in Salt Lake City. Some very interesting design styles can be seen on the square. The entire Temple Square is a huge place worth visiting. There are many local community complexes surrounding the square.

Utah State Capitol

The Utah State Capitol is also a place worth visiting. The Capitol Building is quite large and is the most important administrative seat of the Utah state government. Many of the designs in the building are quite interesting. You can apply to visit here, but it is quite difficult.

This Is The Place Heritage Park

This was our first stop when we arrived in Salt Lake City. We have friends who have lived in this area for many years. This is where the first Mormon settlers arrived. There are many monuments describing this history, and there is also a visitor center with a short film about this history.

Salt Lake City Tabernacle

The Great Chapel is also a huge gathering place. It is located near the Temple of the Demon Sect. The chapel here is also a favorite gathering place for local Americans. The decoration and design inside the chapel are very distinctive. I like some of the styles here very much.
