The old Kyoto Museum is located next to the #Heian Shrine. It was designed by #Le Corbusier&#39;s disciple, Japanese modernist architect #Kunio Maekawa, and was first opened to the public in 1960. This building, which combines classical atmosphere with modern construction, is known as one of Maekawa Kunio&#39;s best works.

In 2016, the Kyoto Museum reopened to the public after restoring the old building and adding some facilities, and joined the Okazaki #Tsutaya Bookstore designed by #Kenya Hara, which is an excellent example of the revitalization of old buildings.

Although the museum annex built in 1930 is Japanese style, retaining the large roof and Tang broken style, the wall structure has been simplified and tends to change towards the modern style.

The museum built in 1960, while further using modern materials to express the modern style, also uses modern materials to think about and evolve the traditional oriental architecture. The eaves, corridors, handrails and railings are carried by the new concrete structure, forming a dialogue and evolution relationship from tradition to modernity.

In 2016, a glass volume and new commercial functions along the street were added to the original building. While retaining some of the original gray space, some public spaces were enclosed with glass corridors, and the original concrete railings and ceilings were placed indoors, while retaining their original form. Through the changes of light and shadow, new perspective features were given, injecting new vitality into the old building.

Going up the mountain along the flat road, the vermilion torii in front of you is the Kifune Shrine. There are many red lanterns on both sides of the long stairs, which is also the most photographed place in Kifune Shrine - the lantern-offering shrine. On the side of the bottom of the stairs, many photographers have already occupied favorable shooting positions, waiting for the lights to be turned on at night.

Kifune Shrine is an ancient shrine at the western foot of Kurama Mountain and the head shrine of Kifune Shrine. This is also the source of water for Kyoto. Kifune Shrine enshrines the most revered water god of Kyoto people. It has a history of more than 1,600 years, which is longer than the history of Kyoto itself.

The steps paved with bluestone slabs extend from the torii to the main shrine of the shrine. Vermilion lanterns stand on both sides of the shrine. Looking from the bottom up, they are densely packed all the way, which is very spectacular.

The shrines are all local Shinto shrines in Japan. They are different from temples and actually have more local characteristics.
