Visiting Du Fu Thatched Cottage (杜甫草堂) was one of the highlights of my Chengdu trip. Pro tip: insist on getting dropped off at the West Gate (main entrance), not the South or North Gate. Some Didi drivers tend to drop tourists off at the wrong gates, which can be quite a walk and may affect the flow of the visit. The layout and visiting sequence makes the most sense starting from the West Gate. The gardens are serene, well-shaded, and full of scenic corners perfect for photos.There&rsquo;s an interpreter service, but I opted for the handheld interpreter device, which you can rent from a vending machine using WeChat or Alipay. It comes with a lanyard tag and earphone (you can keep both!), and just return the machine to the vending kiosk on your way out. The information is superb, GPS-guided and available in English, helping me better appreciate the life and works of Du Fu!

The South Gate is close to the villa area (it should be good to go early, Huahua is also there, but it&#39;s hot recently. Huahua will go off work when it&#39;s above 26 degrees), and the South Gate Road is relatively flat, which is suitable for the elderly. The West Gate has a lot of steps, which is not suitable for the elderly, but it is a choice for young and strong teams who don&#39;t pursue flowers.

The performance lasted 70 minutes in total, and I was really shocked by the plot. It mainly tells the story of the ecological environment of the panda tribe being challenged, and the story of the two princesses and four panda warriors using wisdom and love to protect their homes. The overall plot is vivid and exciting, and it also combines the intangible cultural heritage of Chengdu, Sichuan hip-hop, juggling, puppetry, Zigong lanterns, bamboo weaving skills, and Baima Tibetan panda dance, Tai Chi, martial arts, etc. During the performance, they will also interact with the audience, allowing children to participate in the search for treasure boxes and the secret realm of dragons, and they feel full of participation. The portrayal of each character is very vivid. Optimism, carefulness, courage, kindness, love and other good qualities are fully reflected in each panda character. It is really suitable for families with children to watch. After the musical, you can also take photos with the actors. It&rsquo;s really fun!
