We are thrilled to welcome Gabriel Flynn to the shop to discuss his debut novel, POOR GHOST!, a razor-sharp story of literature, class and family. Gabriel will be in conversation with Aidan Cottrell-Boyce, author of The End of Nightwork. Doors: 6.30pm, starts: 6.45pm Tickets are £4. Admission is free when purchasing a copy the book. About the book: When Luca drops out of his prestigious PhD programme and moves back home to Manchester, he thinks he'll take some time to consider his life choices: the failed love affair that ended in a disastrous holiday and embarrassing exit, the pursuit of an academic life that gave him nothing but a strong sense of failure.
In need of money, and still convinced the literary life might be for him, Luca takes on a job as a ghost writer: Andy, who has progressive MS, wants Luca to write his life story. Luca's own father had MS and eventually took his own life - making the assignment a full immersion in the dark parts of his childhood Luca has never really dealt with. Luca has his own ideas about what Andy's book should be like - but he'll have to learn how to curb his dreaming, if he ever wants to get paid.
While his love of literature and intellectual ambition might have got him so far away from his childhood in Manchester, Luca is grappling with what it means to try to go home again - how far where you're from shapes you, and how difficult your parent's past is to shake off. About the author: Gabriel Flynn was born in 1991 and grew up in Manchester. His writing has appeared in Five Dials, Best British Stories, and the White Review, whose short story prize he was shortlisted for in 2020. He lives in Berlin. The Bridge of Sighs (Oxford University, UK) is officially called Hertford Bridge, a famous attraction of Oxford University, the Bridge of Sighs was built in 1913 (completed in 1914), it crosses the New College Road to connect the old and new parts of Hertford College, is a famous attraction of Oxford University, Designed by Sir Thomas Jackson (Sir TomasJackson), this bridge is called the sigh bridge in Venice, Italy. After the tour group came to Oxford, I was only able to take a look.

The Bodori Library of Oxford University is the general library of Oxford University. It is one of the oldest libraries in Europe (opened in 1602) and the second largest library in the UK after the British Library. It is one of the six statutory libraries in the UK. All Oxford publications will be automatically sent to this collection when published. There are many branches under the library, of which Radcliffe Camera branch has become an important landmark of Oxford University. There are many books stored here. Students who are not Oxford University can also visit. The Hakatori Library consists of a group of buildings of different historical periods and different styles, and is said to have underground channels between the buildings.

For a few pounds you can climb to the top of the tower and enjoy the 360-degree view of Oxford, the beautiful long strips and the southern city. The church porch was built for four or five hundred years and its spiral columns are a major innovation in British architectural history.
