Experience a truly unique and enchanting liturgical event at Princeton University Chapel. Join us for Sarum Vespers, a solemn ceremony celebrated according to the ancient Use of Sarum. This rare occasion will take place on Friday, March 1st, 2024 at 7pm. Immerse yourself in the rich history and sacred beauty of the Sarum liturgy, which dates back to the late 11th century. Led by the renowned early music ensemble Gallicantus, the Vespers will feature a captivating performance of O Sacrum Convivium by Thomas Tallis and the U.S. premiere of the Sarum Litany of the Saints. Before the liturgy, there will be a lecture on the use of Sarum at 6pm, offering a deeper understanding of this ancient rite. This is a one-of-a-kind event that is not to be missed. The previous Catholic Sarum liturgy held in the United States was a monumental success, drawing over 700 attendees from across the country. With the Princeton University Chapel accommodating up to 2,000 people, there is plenty of room for you and your friends to experience this historic occasion. Admission is free, but registration is appreciated. Donations are welcomed to ensure the continued availability of this sacred beauty for all.
