This is a boundary-breaking immersive theater production created by Shangzuo Theater Space, blending the innovative format of "murder mystery + drama" to unfold the rise and fall of the Tang Dynasty's Kaiyuan Golden Age on stage. As a masterpiece in immersive experiences, the show shatters traditional performance boundaries, transforming audiences from passive observers into active participants and drivers of the narrative.
The performance takes historical figure Li Sisheng as its anchor point, weaving together the intertwined destinies of him and five Chang'an youths as they transition from friendship through the tides of time. Upon entry, each audience member receives an admission ticket imprinted with a unique identity—such as "Geshu's Guard" or "Xiyin House Guest"—immersing them in character within a tea-sipping, performance-watching experience amid classical decor. This atmospheric engagement persists throughout. As the narrative unfolds, viewers follow scene transitions into a black box theater, where 360-degree holographic projections vividly recreate Chang'an's bustling streets, imperial palaces, and frontier towers, transporting them into the dynasty's rise and fall.
Real-time interaction between actors and audience runs throughout the experience, from plot Q&As to pivotal choices—each participation may alter the story's direction. Longxing Temple is quite nice and unique; its ancient architecture and Buddhist culture are worth taking the time to appreciate. It&#39;s the most worthwhile of the five existing temples in Zhengding to visit, and also the most expensive. Unfortunately, the most important building, the Great Compassion Pavilion, was under renovation and closed, which was a bit of a disappointment.

Perhaps because of the rain, there weren&#39;t many people. It&#39;s a small ancient town with almost no interactive activities. There were only a few shows, which weren&#39;t as good as the online reviews suggested. The food at the small shops was expensive and mediocre. More importantly, while it&#39;s a half-hour taxi ride there, it took ages to get back. I finally managed to get a shared ride, but they wouldn&#39;t even charge extra. Transportation is inconvenient. The 98 yuan entrance fee only covered the night view.
