 the hyper-creative, environmentally friendly, punk-chic practice of 
small file filmmaking
!
During this hands-on workshop, you will learn:
storyboarding basics
introductory filming techniques
video and audio editing techniques
the ethos and aesthetics of small files and eco-conscious filmmaking
Guided by artist Joey Malbon, discover how to make original videos using accessible technologies, each file no larger than 1.44 MB per minute.
Who is this workshop for?
Anyone! Youth, Adults, and Seniors all welcome. No prior filmmaking experience required.
Why small files?
Because streaming media is killing the planet. Networks, data centers, and devices contribute a whopping 4% of greenhouse gas emissions – and with the cutting of environmental safeguards across the globe, that number is rapidly increasing. The workshop offers a creative and political response to the high-bandwidth demands of 4K media, grounded in a commitment to sustainable, small-file aesthetics.
