This workshop, part of Starcatchers' artist development programme, offers insights into the magical and immersive dance performance designed for young audiences. Club Origami, a commission by Little Big Dance, combines dance improvisation and children's origami to create a captivating journey through the art of paper folding. Takeshi Matsumoto, drawing from his background in dance movement psychotherapy, brings a unique perspective to working with children, while Makiko Aoyama's extensive experience in contemporary dance adds depth to the workshop. The session will focus on movement, observation, and discussion inspired by the Japanese art of Origami, offering a holistic approach to performance making for children. This event, taking place on May 22, 2024, at Starcatchers Baby Studio in Edinburgh, is open to artists of all disciplines and career stages. Attendees are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing; no formal dance training is necessary.
