The Greenville County Section of the National Council of Negro Women (NCNW) is honored to present our 2025 Scholarship Gala, taking place on June 7, 2025. This elegant black-tie event will celebrate the awarding of the prestigious Peggy B. Baxter Community Service Scholarship and support our ongoing mission to uplift students in our community through education.
Guests will enjoy a sophisticated evening featuring a formal dinner, live entertainment, and inspiring remarks from esteemed community leaders. More than just a celebration, the gala offers a powerful opportunity to unite with local professionals, advocates, and changemakers who are committed to empowering the next generation.
All proceeds from the event will directly fund scholarships for deserving students in Greenville County. Since our chartering in September 2019, the Greenville County Section of NCNW has been dedicated to advancing education, equity, and community service. We invite you to join us for an unforgettable night of purpose, unity, and impact.
Our host for the evening is the vibrant and talented Oneshia Edens, affectionately known as "The Lovely Big O."
Peggy Baxter is a respected and devoted community leader from Greenville, South Carolina. She is the immediate past chair of the Board of Directors for Habitat for Humanity Greenville and formerly served as Vice President for Community Health and Ambulatory Services at the Children’s Hospital Research and Medical Center in Oakland, California. A deacon at Long Branch Baptist Church, Mrs. Baxter has also held numerous leadership roles in civic and service organizations throughout Greenville. A proud graduate of Sterling High School, she went on to earn degrees from Hampton University and the University of Denver. Mrs. Baxter is a Lifetime Member of the National Council of Negro Women and was honored to spend time with the late Dr. Dorothy Irene Height, who served as NCNW’s National President for four decades.
