Join us for an evening with Sheena Kalayil to celebrate the launch of her novel THE OTHERS, where a love triangle plays out against the backdrop of the fall of the Berlin Wall. The event will consist of live music, a talk about her writing process and inspirations, and a reading from the book. Doors: 6.30pm, starts: 6.45pm Tickets are £4. About the book: It is 1989, and in a small Baltic city in East Germany, the Deutsche Demokratische Republik, three young people from vastly different backgrounds become friends. Armando is a factory worker from Mozambique, Lolita is a medical student from India, and Theo is an East Berliner who dreams of being a writer. When Armando and Lolita make a grisly discovery, they find themselves caught up in the politics of Theo’s homeland more than ever before. While a quiet revolution sweeps through Eastern Europe, and the Berlin Wall teeters, the three find themselves entangled in a poignant love triangle which threatens their futures. As the world order shifts, their three lives are bound together in a web of love, lies and fears, leaving each irrevocably changed. About the author: Sheena Kalayil is a critically acclaimed Manchester-based author and teacher. THE OTHERS is Kalayil's fourth novel, continuing her profound examination of untold stories from the crossroads of history and human experience. Her third book, 'The Wild Wind', drew inspiration from her own nomadic upbringing shuttling between India, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. Kalayil's debut novel, 'The Bureau of Second Chances', announced her as a major new literary talent, winning the prestigious Writers' Guild Award for Best First Novel and being shortlisted for the Edward Stanford Prize for Fiction with a Sense of Place.  With a lifetime of experiences teaching around the world, from Nepal and Mozambique to Tunisia and Venezuela, Kalayil brings a truly global perspective to her writing. Since 2002, she has called the UK home, now teaching at the University of Manchester while penning rich, immersive narratives that transcend borders. Tickets are £4.00. The Bridge of Sighs (Oxford University, UK) is officially called Hertford Bridge, a famous attraction of Oxford University, the Bridge of Sighs was built in 1913 (completed in 1914), it crosses the New College Road to connect the old and new parts of Hertford College, is a famous attraction of Oxford University, Designed by Sir Thomas Jackson (Sir TomasJackson), this bridge is called the sigh bridge in Venice, Italy. After the tour group came to Oxford, I was only able to take a look.

The Bodleian Library - University of Oxford is the main library of the University of Oxford. It is one of the oldest libraries in Europe (opened in 1602) and the second largest in the UK after the British Library. library. This is one of the 6 statutory libraries in the UK. All Oxford publications will be automatically sent to this collection upon publication. There are many branches under the library, among which the Radcliffe Camera branch has become an important landmark of Oxford University. Many books are stored here, and non-Oxford University students can also visit it. Bodori Library is composed of a group of buildings of different historical periods and styles. It is said that there are underground passages connecting each building.

For a few pounds you can climb to the top of the tower and enjoy a 360-degree view of Oxford, with the most stunning long strip of landscape and the city to the south. The church porch was built four or five hundred years ago, and its spiral columns are a major innovative feature in British architectural history.
