While one developed in the 17th century as the city’s first exercise in refined neoclassical town planning, the other became the defining slum of the 18th century; chronicled by artist Hogarth and urban reformers. In service to one of the city’s most celebrated markets, they evolved as rough and tumble districts that in the twentieth century fought and won one of London’s greatest architectural battles. After watching the changing of the guard ceremony at Buckingham Palace, we came to Westminster Abbey. There were a lot of people queuing up, and it took about an hour and a half to enter the church. There was an interpreter at the entrance, and you could choose Chinese. Follow the team and the interpreter will explain. My favorite is the Matisse-style painting window. The staff in the church are of high quality and good temperament, which makes people respect them.
