Matthew Liu Fine Arts is honored to present the solo exhibition "Parallel Metropolises" by Chinese artist Yang Yongliang. For over two decades, Yang's work has been firmly rooted in the spiritual core of traditional Chinese ink painting, while also breaking new ground by employing modern technology. This exhibition marks a pivotal turning point in Yang Yongliang's creative career. Since relocating to New York in 2018, the artist has been shuttling between Shanghai and New York, observing and experiencing this Western metropolis through the unique lens of his Eastern cultural perspective. The concept of "Parallel Metropolises" not only reveals the artist's geographic span, but also symbolizes his profound reflections on cultural identity and artistic creation. This "parallel" embodies the convergence and resonance of Eastern and Western civilizations within the work, reflecting the arduous exploration of cultural translation and self-reconstruction undertaken by this Chinese artist in a foreign land. His creative approach inherits the artistic characteristics of traditional Chinese landscape painting, where "distant views are all mountains and water, while close-up views are all brush and ink”, while also incorporating innovative contemporary digital techniques. In the work "Phantom Metropolis”, for example, the artist employs cutting-edge digital imaging technology to reorganize the intricate details of countless Manhattan buildings into a dreamlike, mirage-like vision, evoking the classical Chinese imagery of "mirage" while also revealing the artist's philosophical contemplations on the modern city.

Disneyland in autumn is truly amazing! The weather is comfortable, and waiting outside becomes a real treat. I went on a Sunday, and it wasn&#39;t too crowded, so I only had to wait 40 minutes for the heat chase. I was very satisfied. There were many limited-time events during Halloween, and the disco was incredibly fun, creating a lively atmosphere. My only complaint is that the restaurants in the park are expensive and awful. All main courses are over 100 yuan, and they feel like they&#39;ve been sitting out for ages.

The view from the top of the Pearl Tower was amazing. I listened to my advice and skipped the 3rd floor. The view from the 2nd floor was more than adequate. The telescope, with its high magnification, gave me a clear view of Shanghai&#39;s charming scenery. The only problem was that the windows weren&#39;t cleaned regularly. While the crowds were a problem, it wasn&#39;t overcrowded this season and there wasn&#39;t enough space to put my feet. The glass screens surrounding the 2nd floor were covered in handprints, and the glass walkway was covered in water stains and footprints (probably from spilled drinks at the entrance), which significantly affected the view.

There are many animals, and the interactions are very interesting. The roller coaster is also very exciting and fun. The staff are very enthusiastic and will take the initiative to educate people about the small animals. Some of the animals&#39; activity space is too small, and it is very far from the city, so transportation is not very convenient.

I finally got my tickets for the long-awaited Egypt exhibition! I chose a weekend trip from Hangzhou to Shanghai. The exhibition is divided into three themed pavilions. I saw many Egyptian statues and even cat mummies, which was quite a novelty!
