Join Visual Arts Resident Alum Asuka Goto in Brooklyn at Pioneer Works for an exciting event called Zine Making with Asuka Goto. This in-person workshop will take place on Saturday, December 2, 2023, from 1-3pm. The event aims to celebrate the merits of independent publishing and the dissemination of the arts through publication, recorded sound, and their expanded mediums. Asuka Goto, who has an MFA in Sculpture from Tyler School of Art and a BA and Post-Baccalaureate certificate from Brandeis University, is a highly respected artist who has participated in prestigious residencies at the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, Joan Mitchell Center, and Djerassi Resident Artists Program, among others. She has received grants from the Pollock-Krasner Foundation, NYFA, Jerome Foundation, and Joan Mitchell. Attendees will have the opportunity to create one sheet zines during the workshop. Paper and markers will be provided for those who prefer drawing by hand, while participants who prefer digital work should bring their own laptops, with a limited number of laptops available upon request.
