&quot;Bernard Venet: Beyond Concepts and Matter&quot; Exhibition: An Art with Both Depth and Shock

🎨I just visited the &quot;Bernard Venet: Beyond Concepts and Matter&quot; exhibition, and my heart couldn&#39;t calm down for a long time
This exhibition was held on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and France, and it itself carries a profound cultural exchange significance. As soon as you enter the exhibition hall, you can feel a strong artistic atmosphere coming towards you, as if you have stepped into an art palace that transcends time and space.

In the process of understanding Venet&#39;s works, I found that his artistic concept has a unique source. In 1970, he accidentally saw an article by semiotician Jacques Bertin in the magazine &quot;Communication&quot;, which became an important opportunity for the development of his artistic concept. From that article, he discovered the concept of &quot;univocity&quot;. This concept is very subtle. It is not only about communication efficiency, but more importantly, each element and symbol has a predetermined unique meaning, referring to the self itself. Bertin&#39;s communication concept of efficiency first and his view of instant appreciation of images are similar to Venet&#39;s, which gave Venet a deeper understanding of new themes and figurative descriptions. It is clear from the comparison that the ambiguity in music and non-figurative painting is open and abstract, while Bertin&#39;s identification of polysemy with verbs and symbolic images is subject to interpretation, and only univocal systems are as strict and precise as mathematics and graphics. This in-depth exploration of concepts is reflected in Venet&#39;s works, allowing us to see the deep theoretical support behind his works.

One of the works that impressed me most is &quot;Performance in the Garbage Dump&quot; (1961). In this work, Venet lies directly on his back on the dirty ground, wearing a military uniform with a bare chest, surrounded by all kinds of garbage. With his lowered head, closed eyes and stretched body, the whole picture is full of Caravaggio-style religious colors. His Christ-like composition is obviously well thought out, and this is not a casual performance. From this picture, we can feel a kind of drama of survival. He seems to show weakness and the approach of death in the garbage and decay. We don&#39;t know whether he is dreaming, sleeping or resting, but this expression of garbage equating with death is very powerful and a profound interpretation of the human condition. Moreover, this work has a deeper contextual meaning. At that time, the Algerian War was about to come, and Venet would be sent there the following year. The reality of war and the problem of survival were undoubtedly the pain in the hearts of every soldier, which also became a contextual symbol in the work. This work is not just a simple performance art display, but also a portrayal of an era, a state of existence, and the inner world of people under the shadow of war.

The exhibition spans Venet&#39;s more than 60 years of artistic career. The nearly 180 works on display are like a vivid art history book, recording his exploration and thinking on the road of art. This exhibition is a review of Venet&#39;s artistic career,

I bought a 1.5-day Universal Studios ticket and arrived early on the first day. Mr. Gao Yuan, the hotel receptionist, checked me in early and upgraded me to a room with a view of the Universal Studios entrance. The room was clean and the facilities were excellent. On the second day, I was able to enjoy early admission to the park, and Harry Potter was only 5 minutes away.

I totally recommend to go to the this park in night session. I did not expect anything before coming but it turned out so well. I won&#39;t regret it.

Even though I&#39;d done a lot of planning ahead of time, I was still a bit overwhelmed by the size of the National Museum upon entering security. But the good thing was that there were staff everywhere, practically around the corner. I couldn&#39;t find the entrance to the underground level at first, so I asked, and later I asked when I rented a power bank [laughing and crying R]
But I saw almost everything I wanted to see!! It was incredibly tiring, but where I could speed through the crowds, I slithered through them. If it were less crowded, I might have had more opportunities to take more interesting photos.

The Temple of Heaven Park is increasingly popular with tourists, but a visit to the Temple of Heaven is essential to understand its history and cultural heritage. Built in 1420, the Temple underwent extensive renovations in 1752, leaving its main structure standing for over 330 years. In 1889, the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests was completely destroyed by a lightning strike and caught fire. Reconstruction began in 1896, and was completed in 1906. The Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests underwent another major renovation in 1970. The main buildings in the Temple of Heaven include the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests, the Divine Music Office, the Zhai Palace, the Circular Mound Altar, the Imperial Vault of Heaven, and the Danbi Bridge. During the Ming and Qing dynasties, 22 emperors held 654 rituals here, including offerings to heaven and praying for rain and a good harvest. The most enthusiastic emperor was Emperor Qianlong, who participated in 155 rituals at the Temple of Heaven. Rituals such as offerings to heaven and praying for rain were primarily held at the Circular Mound Altar, while prayers for a good harvest were held at the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests. In addition to the large number of tourists visiting the Temple of Heaven, an increasing number of citizens are also enjoying walking in the park.
