The bus hostel is really near the airport and quite walkable to major sightseeing like 20-30 minutes.
Yet the Windows curtain could not even cover it well so if you sleep near a Windows in summer (as the night will be very bright) You will affect by the light. There was men snoring really hard so it affect as well (though this is not about the hotel)
I got nose allergy and the entire time I stay in the hotel and it makes me feel very sick.
The self check in system is quite good, yet the reception will be locked after 9pm(?) I was coming back at 10pm and there was no staff help unlocking the main entrance which the password is different. They provide no information about this. A few of us (new guests or those coming back) are locked outside until a guest know the password show up. This certainly not a good service at all.
The toilet has automatic light which is Environmental friendly I like it, but it went off when I only have a short time in the toilet, this really not quite good.
But the location is good and there is bus travel tour pick up from here.
The accommodation's hygiene and location were decent. BUT!!! A very dangerous incident occurred today when I was checking out.
I want to alert every guest staying here. I needed to check out at 3:30 AM to catch a car to the airport. But I discovered the elevator was broken! The staff said the elevator was out of order and I needed to use the stairs. So, I immediately turned around to take the stairs, as there was an emergency exit right next to the elevator. I pushed the door open and carried my 28-inch luggage downstairs. It was an outdoor staircase, and I thought it would lead straight to the ground floor.
However, when I reached the second floor, I found there were no more stairs down? Every door was locked, and I was trapped outside! This was in freezing Iceland!!! I then frantically knocked on a transparent glass window, calling for help. No staff member noticed me until the elderly lady next door was woken up by my knocking. I felt incredibly sorry for her, but I really needed to catch my flight. I was trapped outside for at least 10 minutes.
So I looked for another staircase. When I got to the first floor, I found I still couldn't get out. I knocked again, and finally, a staff member noticed me and said I hadn't reached the right exit yet.
I was so frustrated… I understand that elevator maintenance can happen, but why wasn't I informed a day in advance? If advance notice isn't possible, why weren't there clear instructions on which staircase to use? If the outdoor staircase doesn't lead to an exit, why isn't it closed or inaccessible at night? If I had missed my flight, or if I had been stuck on that outdoor staircase until morning, who would be responsible for my safety?
Fantastic location. We stayed for three nights, they provide towels, bath shampoo and hangers in room. There are side table and chairs. The common kitchen is well equipped and there are so clean. Some traveller bought food to prepare breakfast and dinner. It's so convinient to walk to city.
Recommend for team building and school camp.

The staff of the Hostel are very responsible to solve problems for the guests. There are washing machines and dryers, and the charges are reasonable. ISK2000 is cheaper than some hostels, but the location is a bit far away from the city, and it may be inconvenient for those without a car. There is a very comfortable common area. There is also a hairdryer in the common area, so you don't have to worry about making noise to other guests at night.
I really enjoyed my stay here, the location is close to the city center and the pick up point of lots of day trips. And the reception was so kind, showing me around all the facilities. Highly recommend

I didn't make a reservation personally, but I couldn't get an email from the owner, who said self-check-in, and after another guest opened the door, I called the owner and went in. Open the part with the room number attached to each room and press the off-time key. When you check out, you can leave it in it. The entrance is not the front door, but the second floor of the next staircase. The underground luggage storage room is You have to go back to the building, not next to it.
It was nice to be close to the city center and the museums

Check-in was pretty smooth. I was allocated the room just above the main entrance as such, it can be quite noisy whenever people get in or out of the hostel with the door slamming and some vibration felt! The bathroom and wc are fairly clean and tidy. Very cosy common area to mingle and make new friends. Kitchen has all the basic necessity. I especially like the small area right outside my room where i can have a light meal and nice view of the surroundings. Bought the unlimited bus rides ticket via the Klappid app for travel within the Reykjavik capital city and bus svc 12 is just few steps away. If time permits, you can even walk to the coastal area for sight-seeing. Overall, i am very satisfied with my 8 nights stay at Laekur hostel!

GGuest UserA very mixed bag! On the one hand everything is new and clean and the location is absolutely amazing. Staff are welcoming and friendly. That’s the good bits.
The bad part is nothing was really explained to me about the facilities there- for example the wristbands and how they’re used to purchase things. They’re loaded with “credit” which I mistakenly thought was credit to purchase tea and coffee but you do have to pay for them. The machine didn’t work and I was charged for about five drinks I never had but I was in a rush checking out so had to leave it. I also wasn’t told about how to get to the hot tub on the roof so sadly I never got to use that.
The bedding was stained when I got there, weirdly the staff member told me they weren’t “allowed” to change the sheets so I was given some clean sheets and had to battle changing the bed in a tiny space- not ideal. The one hairdryer in the bathrooms also didn’t work fully so that’s why the services rating is low.
