Location is good, easier accessible from the bus station and within 3 minutes walk from the Yubatake. But it is surrounded by construction and therefore the view is not attractive. Service quality is good, staff are friendly, helpful and responsive. Food quality overall is fine. Yet tradition Japanese cuisine would make the experience of an onsen vacation whole more than fusion cuisine. Choice of onsen is limited versus the price level. Only 1 public bath is available. The 4 rental baths add more to the range of choice but they are quite quickly occupied.

The hotel is very old, mainly for the hot springs and ski resorts, so the old hotel facilities can be tolerated. If you imagine a luxurious trip with comfortable facilities and beautiful hot springs, then don't choose this hotel. The ski resort can be skied in and out from the hotel, which is absolutely great for skiers. The restaurant is good. There are buffets and à la carte kaiseki cuisine. This hotel has many ********* friends, and there is also a ski training team on the first floor of the hotel. Speak Chinese, only cash is accepted. I didn't see the stars at night. The hotel is almost full, so the service staff are very busy. The phone in the room is basically unreachable. The hotel is high in the mountains, there is no pharmacy nearby, and it is not convenient to travel. So families with children need to carry daily backup medicines. Skiing is good, hot springs are good!

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Tokinoniwa Onsen Hotel, and it was an unforgettable experience. From the moment I arrived, I was enveloped in a sense of tranquility and luxury that defines a perfect Japanese ryokan stay. The hotel effortlessly blends traditional Japanese aesthetics with modern comforts. The staff were exceptionally warm and attentive, ensuring every aspect of the stay was seamless. The check-in process was smooth, and the hospitality throughout my visit was outstanding. The tatami-style room was beautifully designed, offering both elegance and comfort. The highlight was the private open-air onsen on the balcony, where I could soak in the natural hot spring water while enjoying breathtaking views of the surrounding nature. The serene ambiance made it a truly rejuvenating experience.

In order to go to Shiosei Initial D, I went to Ikaho Onsen for the first time and booked to stay here. I spent three days and two nights in a row, and the dinner and breakfast dishes were different every day! Awesome! This is a hotel in the area that is over a hundred years old. It has a long history and has been renovated. Transportation: Take the Ikaho Onsen Line from Shibukawa Station for half an hour. If you catch the express bus on time, you will arrive within 10 minutes. The hotel is right next to the main bus station of Ikaho Onsen. When you arrive, you will be greeted by staff outside the entrance. Everyone in the hotel has to take off their shoes before entering. The shoes will be kept in the shoe cabinet outside, which is very Japanese hotel style. When checking in and explaining in the lobby, you will be asked when you will have dinner and breakfast, which is very considerate. Then directed to my room. I felt very comfortable as the staff guided/explained very politely. I stayed in a corner Western-style room on the 5th floor, which was half a floor away. The room was large, clean and comfortable. The good thing about the in-room facilities is that there are plenty of sockets, which are useful for charging smartphones. It's just that there is no bathroom in the room. I have to go to the large bathing room on the first floor to take a bath. I just find this inconvenient. Dinner is served in the venue on the 2nd floor with a handwritten menu. The staff explained each item politely and cared about getting enough rice, which was very delicious! This is a perfect service. Dishes were a local selection of meat, fish and vegetables, allowing us to enjoy local produce. Drinks are available at an additional cost and a la carte dishes can be ordered separately. Regarding the breakfast the next day, the portion was very large and very satisfying. Especially the steamed vegetables are very delicious. Even at breakfast, the staff was very friendly and polite, providing bathing information and asking if I need to clean the room that day? I said no. Very considerate, I enjoyed the large bath on the 1st floor, the open-air bath on the 8th floor, and the private open-air bath. The men's and women's hot springs will change venues sooner or later, which is great! Note that only the large bath on the first floor has shampoo and shower gel, so go to the large bath first. In addition to a large bathtub, the public bath also has a sauna and a cold shower. It was a bath that healed my body and mind. The hot spring is very hot and nice to soak in. You can enjoy different scenery in the open-air bath in the morning and evening. It is easier to see the scenery than renting an open-air bath. But the most enjoyable thing is to soak in the hot spring naked while admiring the beautiful scenery! After I soaked in the hot springs in the morning and returned to my room to rest comfortably, a thrilling and embarrassing episode happened. Suddenly someone (named the female manager Omori) opened the door to my room with a key. I had clearly told me that there was no need to clean it. I didn't realize that someone would come in the room. I was completely naked at the time. The scene was very sudden and embarrassing! She was embarrassed and said sorry and immediately closed the door. It was also the first time that a return incident happened to me. I didn’t feel uneasy or unhappy at the moment, I was just scared. When I came back to my senses, I just felt that the female person in charge made an unintentional mistake. Afterwards, when we met, she told me that she was very sorry. Opinions for this hotel: First, because I feel that if you want to enter the guest room, no matter whether there is anyone or not, you must knock on the door and say ”Sorry for disturbing you” before entering. The female person in charge suddenly opened the guest room door without saying anything and came in! Not very respectful. The second point is that I have communicated with the hotel staff that there is no need to clean the room. Did you make any mistakes in communication? The third point is that I don’t know whether the female person in charge is intentional or not, but the female person in charge is obviously not dressed to prepare room cleaning equipment. In addition, even if you insist on entering the guest’s room, you must ensure that the guest agrees and has already gone out. Implement. It is recommended that the room should be equipped with a back lock to ensure the safety of guests. I hope this hotel will learn from this to ensure that similar things don't happen to other guests. I will also consider staying here next time. Summary (out of 5) Dinner: 4 points Breakfast: 4.5 points Room: 4 points Hot spring: 3.5 points

The only photos of the accommodation were of breakfast because I was busy resting, but it was really great. Location: 3 minutes from Yubatake / 5 minutes from Otaki no Yu (best value for money) Service: They gave me a sign saying they couldn't speak English, but they somehow understood everything with an interpreter and provided all the services. Facilities: Best value for money. There's a bathhouse on the first floor, but no one was using it, so I went alone in the early morning and took a bath. (There was no hair dryer in the room, so I just washed up in the first floor bathhouse.) They even left my luggage after I checked out in the morning. I would visit again.

Although the hotel is small, it has a very good location and is convenient for going anywhere in the central area. It takes about 3 to 5 minutes to walk after getting off the bus. It's just that the name of the store is a little small, so if you don't understand Japanese, you may not notice it. Because the name on Ctrip is translated into Chinese, and the actual store name is in Japanese. The hotel has two small hot spring pools, and only one room can enter at a time. You basically have to wait for half an hour to soak each time. However, there are many places to soak in hot springs outside, so if you are not so obsessed with soaking in the hotel, it's no problem. The first thing I did when I arrived at the hotel was to search for delicious restaurants nearby. I found a restaurant called Kamameshi, which looked good, but because I couldn't make an online reservation, I could only queue up at the door. So I waited for more than an hour in the cold wind. It was so cold during the waiting process that I soaked my feet in the foot bath next to it. Facts have proved that even if there are many people queuing up, it is not necessarily a delicious restaurant. The expectations are high, but the actual situation is very average, and the menu variety is also very small. I will never go to the store a second time unless there is really nothing to eat. I guess many people queuing up are also following the trend like me, out of curiosity. In addition, when you go out, bring the bath towel and small towel provided by the hotel, so that you can take a bath at any time, because the hot springs outside do not provide towels, and some places even need to pay to rent them. When you arrive at the place, first buy a package ticket for the three major hot springs, stamp each place, and you will be issued a certificate of completion after taking three baths, so you can take a photo to commemorate it. Kusatsu Onsen is not big, and the attractions are very concentrated, which is quite suitable for lazy people like me, and they are all within walking distance. I personally think that planning a good itinerary is enough for two days and one night. Finally, it is still quite cold these days, so remember to wear thicker clothes, bring hats and earmuffs, because it is really cold.

KKidddThe hot spring hotel is very close to Yubatake. The Yubatake is beautiful at night. The hotel's Keishi cuisine is delicious and well presented. There is also a QR code for breakfast and dinner to let you scan and explain what each dish is. They are very attentive. The hot springs are also very comfortable. They are switched between morning and evening, so you can soak in the hot springs on both sides. The waiters were very nice and provided warm hospitality. I will definitely stay here again next time I have the opportunity.

GGuest UserThe room is large, clean and tidy, and the service is very good. The facilities that a hot spring hotel should have are all available in the Dadong Pavilion. Only the hotel is a bit old, and some of the equipment is not recent, but it is cost-effective, and some room types can directly see the Yubatake. The front desk staff is enthusiastic and patient to serve tourists who do not speak the language, and use translation software to introduce in detail the instructions after checking in and the services that guests can enjoy. The hotel has a shuttle bus to pick up and drop off guests at the long-distance bus station and the parking lot. The hotel is a 5-minute walk from the bus station. I only stayed for one night because there are many special restaurants in the town, and the room reservation did not include meals. The hotel has more services and meals that I did not experience. The Dadong Pavilion has a superior geographical location, right in the center of Yuxi. Caoyuan Hot Spring is worthy of being the No. 1 hot spring in Japan. From viewing the scenery, tasting local food, enjoying the hot springs to watching special performances, these aspects make tourists happy and linger.

SSRL13064Excellent service. I will give 10 out of 5 if I could. There was a staff who rushed out to us and asked if we were going to stay at the Ryokan. Very helpful for lost travelers overwhelmed by the cold weather. Greeted us warmly when we arrived. Explained the important information to us as best as they could in English, which is perfectly fine. Room was big. Decorated meticulously in the traditional Japanese style. Yukata and Obi provided added on to the immersive experience. Dinner was exquisite. Dishes gave us a taste of what traditional Japanese cuisine was like. The food was sincere (didn’t feel like frozen / canned / ready made food), served and plated meticulously. There were 2 onsens, indoor and outdoor. They were clean and spacious enough. Water (I believe) is from the hot spring nearby and was immensely therapeutic. Ryokan was near the heart of the town and everything was within walking distance. Kindly shuttled us to the bus terminal when we checked out (we didn’t have to wait for fixed timings) and carried our (heavy) luggage. All in all, we enjoyed the one night stay very much and they set a high bar for Japanese hospitality.

GGuest UserThis is a hotel with a long history since the Edo period. It is 2 minutes away from the bus station and Yuten. The hotel's meticulous service is meticulous and thoughtful, with a smile on your face, and the special apple juice is very delicious. The dinner is Kaiseki cuisine, and you can experience it one dish at a time. The food is quite rich. Special praise for Liu San who can speak Chinese. The service is very good, which makes us communicate barrier-free and feel at ease. The hot spring is also very comfortable. I have never experienced such a service-oriented hotel. LLeslie CulhaneHotel Ichii is right in the heart of Kusatsu, so that is awesome. The onsen facilities are very clean and organized. However, our room was disappointing - perhaps because we are used to western style rooms. Our Japanese style room in the annex had no storage - other than the wardrobe where the yukata are stored and you could hang a couple of coats, there was nothing. Since the table in the center of the room was moved each morning and night by the staff to lay out the futons, we didn’t feel comfortable leaving a lot on the table. The futons were clearly old and the comforter on top was stained. There were only the towels meant to be used in the onsen - there were only very thin paper towels for the sink, which seemed very wasteful. Our rooms were located in the annex and while we could get hot water for the in room bath, there water in the sink was barely tepid. The smoking room on the second floor by the passage to the main building made the whole area smell. So if we hadn’t paid up front, we would have left early.

SSinPros: 1. The room was incredibly spacious, with 4 beds even though we were only a party of 3. The mountain view from the room was fantastic! 2. Overall cleanliness was good. 3. Excellent location near Yubatake, where local shops and dining options are plentiful. 4. The private onsen was amazing, with a convenient button to refill hot water into the tub. 5. Special afternoon and evening times offered free food at the lounges, including ice cream, turnip soup, sausages, noodles, and special amenities like complimentary interdental brushes and facial masks. 6. Hotel staff provided excellent and efficient service. 7. Dinner was a delightful 7-course meal, with each evening featuring a different menu. 8. Breakfast was quite good with a decent variety. 9. The complimentary parking area was spacious with plenty of spots, located right next to the hotel entrance. Cons: 1. There isn't much to criticise about the place. GGuest UserOverall staying in this hotel was pleasant, and it was of great value considering the package had already included dinner and breakfast buffet. Regarding location, it was a bit far from the bus terminal by walking. It took us about 15 minutes, as the route by Google was not quite correct. The main entrance of the hotel was up on a slope, which was not as easy as we were carrying luggage. Remember to ask the front desk for the password of the back gate. It was a short cut route leading to the main shopping street and the Kusatsu Yubatake. The room was pleasant and clean, a bit too basic. There was only a socket near the tv wall, not close to the bed, which was a bit inconvenient. There was wide range of food in the buffet, with some interesting local dishes. Food was delicious. The hotel also offer free late night snack noodle, which worth trying too.
