As a family we used to visit Bilkent Otel quite often, but most probably this was the last time. The Hotel used to be one of the best hotels in the city but unfortunately now it needs significant renovations. I am attaching some photos of the room we stayed in, I think a picture is worth a thousand words!
As their prices are almost equal to most of the 5 star hotels in the city, I think it isn't worth staying here anymore.

The room smelt heavily of cigarette smoke, despite opting for a non-smoking room. I changed and in the new room I had no electricity in the morning as the bathroom light blew it. Not a good experience for a 3 night stay.

Had to change 2 rooms before settle in the 3rd one during our 2 nights stay. We've booked a deluxe room which was an upgrade from the standard ones on the "renovated" part of the hotel. We walked in to our first room and immediately run out because of the terrible septic smell! Without properly apologizing, front desk moved us to our second room. The room was outdated, the bed was so awful it would be better if we slept on the floor. The plumbing in the shower and bathroom sink weren't working at all, even during a very quick shower walk-in shower flooded. We had to complain once again after our first night in agony and they moved us to our third room on our second night. The accommodations weren't improved at all but at that point we just wanted pushed through the night and leave immediately in the morning. Will never stay there again!

Ok in general terms, but 5 Stars?
The floor of the room was covered with laminate. This and the sober (and not very practical) furnishings did not create a cozy atmosphere. It was more like a room for a decent 4-star business hotel. The bathroom was clean and large but had structural defects: the paint on the ceiling in the shower was peeling off and the door frames were swelling from below and the paint was also peeling off, which suggests that the cleaning was too wet and possibly that too harsh cleaning agents were used.
The breakfast was excellent.

Great old hotel
A very traditional hotel with excellent staff. But unfortunately the bathroom was not up to par. The hotel shower would not drain water properly.

Considering it’s a business venue it is considerably unloved and in need of repair, carpets torn and uneven, lighting not replaced , closed facilities
