Hotel Istankoy Bodrum

Great location. Nice place

Location perfect. Rooms in need of refurbishment. Very dark. Bar area lovely. Not enough sunbeds for size of hotel. Pool mostly in.the shade. Brekfast sparce. There is an egg station. Mostly bread and cheese with a little salad. Cheap and cheerful. Rooms are cleaned spasmodicly. Loads of good restaurants ouside hotel. Use trip advisor for recommendations, we did and didn't have a bad meal. Watch spirit costs in bars, up too £12.50 for a gin and tonics. Good holiday but expensive place to stay. Go to curlys place up the road for free sunbeds and a better pool. Ask anyone to show you the way. Most of the hotel go there as there is much more space and good food.

Second time here, staff are great and always friendly. We had an issue with our first room, aircon leaking onto electrics below and were moved the next day. Wardrobe was also coming apart. Moved to another room which was fine but cleaning is obviously being done in a hurry as surface items like phones, hotel guide and sink/toilet were dusty or had hard limescale. Still good value and a great location but let down by general maintenance. No entertainment in our first weel, the legendary shake em up bingo in our second was a laugh as always. The staff make the atmosphere friendly and welcoming. Would go back again aa it was small things that need attention.

Just returned from my family holiday at this Hotel. I think the thing that makes this Hotel is the staff in particular the bar staff, they cannot do enough for you. They bend over backwards to help you and are very accommodating. They work really long hours and always have a smile on their faces. My own personal experience is the housekeeping lets the Hotel down. One nice chat actually is every room has its own washing line which is brilliant. I am because I took things to wash his clothes and I was able to hang them out then you can hang your towels out obviously and swimwear that’s a great little feature we were on the ground floor so that helped because we weren’t drinking whatever everybody. This is a really authentic family room Hotel lots of international visitors not very many English for me was quite refreshing. Lots of Turkish people go there for their holidays which I think says a lot. The pool was open nine till six every day quite a small pool but the children loved it. No issues at all with the staff about when the children were jumping in so lots of children were there so if you don’t don’t like hotels with massive slides then is probably a hotel for you. Overall a fantastic holiday and maybe we will return one day.

Stay away from this place. Absolutely disgusting and shocking hotel. The property is completely rundown and nowhere near a 3 star standard. Based on western hotel standards, I would struggle to give it even 1 star. Extremely dismissive, unhelpful, and unfriendly staff. From the moment you check in, there is no welcoming smile, friendliness, or proper explanation of the hotel facilities. Rooms seem to be assigned without even checking what you actually booked, and then you are forced to go through the inconvenience of changing rooms. The rooms themselves are in terrible condition, with broken fixtures and water flooding from the shower. Communication is also extremely difficult. Only one or two people at the front desk seem able to speak basic English, and much of the time it is a struggle to communicate. Some staff simply do not answer calls or appear to ignore them when they recognise the number because they can’t speak. The entire experience was absolutely appalling from beginning to end. I would not be surprised if the hotel responds to this review by denying these issues or trying to justify its actions. Do not believe a word they say.
