Fantastic food, beers and atmosphere. Karyn was particularly good and great with the kids. Definitely coming back. Super beer garden with lodges for eating or drinking. Worth booking for food especially on a Sunday. Very efficient service.

We were a party of ten and a fair few noisy children included too. Thankfully The Lion was very much on the ball. The food was good, the venue lovely and the service absolutely outstanding. Our waitress Karyn was not only extremely efficient but showed me much kindness to which was very much appreciated.

We were hoping to eat at The Lion, however, after one medium glass of wine and a pint of Butcombe, costing almost. £15! We checked the menu and the prices were unfortunately equally, if not more, extortionate. We drank up and left. This used to be a regular dinner venue for us however we will not return until the prices are more realistic. This not fine dining but a lovely country pub and prices should be adjusted accordingly.

We came into the lion and the lady (who said her name was Marie) was lighting a fire, which we found very cosy whilst we sat in front of a roaring fire enjoying our coffee on a cold day. We sat and admired how the pub had such a warm atmosphere and friendly feeling about it. Marie made us feel very welcome and was very attentive, checking everything was ok, and making sure we had all we need. For a old pub it’s got a lot of character in which we love in places, and the staff matched it perfectly, we will definitely be back to enjoy there homemade pies very soon.

We l would highly recommend The Lion! Staff are friendly and welcoming and willing to have a chat :) The fire provides a cosy atmosphere alongside the gorgeous decor, very fitting with the area. The outside area is cosy with heated seating areas for year-round catch ups! Food was delicious - we had the burgers and the chips were so crispy and salty. The best dessert is the Biscott mini doughnuts - to die for!!

Excellent Sunday lunch - would highly recommend the roast beef and wonderful Yorkshire pudding. We found all the staff friendly, attentive and thoughtful. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming. What a great pub this is - we will certainly return!

We have recently visited this pub and have many times over the years and we find it very disappointing in that the landlord is very unfriendly and seems contemptuous of customers and creates a very poor atmosphere in the bar area when he is present which is nearly always. There is a female member of staff who seems more interested in her friends and also helps to create this poor atmosphere. We will almost certainly be giving this pub a miss in the future .

Bizarre experience. We had a wonderful meal in the restaurant, excellent steak, great friendly service THEN we moved into the lounge to sit fireside. A blonde female staff member arrived took over the space, stomped around aggressively, stoked the fire to dangerous levels & was joined by a bunch of friends who sat in front of the fire 🔥 & blocked any heat & generally made us feel unwelcome. I felt like an unwanted guest in someones private living room! Just for the record it was 10 pm so we hadn’t over stayed 😏
