The lodge is an older property. Lots of history to the buildings. Room are adequate. The staff is exceptional. The receptionist at the store scheduled a 4 hr tour for 2 of us. Harold was the Navajo guide. We thoroughly enjoyed hearing stories of the canyon as Harold spent much of his youth growing up in the canyon. We especially enjoyed seeing his grandmothers farm where he was raised. If you get a chance, book a tour through the Lodge. The only negative was the cafeteria. The food was dreadful. Instead go into town as there are several options there.

Perfect location for a visit to Canyon de Chelly. Office is open 24 hrs/day and personnel were nice. Spacious room, older motel with some updates. The mattress was very comfortable and there was plenty of lighting in the room. We ate dinner in the on-site cafeteria both nights which was extremely convenient. Cafeteria staff was very friendly and helpful. We would definitely staff here again rather than a chain hotel in town.

Hotel is inside the park and has cafeteria. Check in was easy. You can sign up tours with the hotel which is run by local tour company. Will come back for another visit.

Nice room with little seating area outside. The cafeteria was ok and one of the only places in town to eat. Everyone we met or talked with were so nice. Such kind helpful friendly people. The area is absolutely beautiful.

My stay was good, I got the rest I needed. I like that TBird has Directv, I can appreciate this.
The only thing is my room door had a gap even if it is closed and locked. The worry there is I was running the heat on the entire night and the heat goes out the crack in the door opening.
Overall the place is safe, I was booked close to the front office so I felt like I was in good shape.
The hand soap could have been a little bigger though.
But, the HOT water was GREAT no complaints there.

I always liked the place. But the last time we were there, the hair dryer was broken and when we asked for a new one they said they don't have any. Then I asked if I can use the hairdryer in another room, and the receptionist said no you cannot!! Then my friend called them again and said we are paying for everything and we should be able to use what we paid for, and that is when he finally agreed and sent me to a used room that was not cleaned yet to dry my hair. I hope the boss reads this because the receptionist thought he might get angry if we were served with what we paid for!
I don't care about drying my hair in a used room, but definitely not how I will treat a guest if it were me. Other than this, it is a nice area.

We loved this location! Inside the Monument, lovely grounds, great staff and nice, clean room. Nicely refurbished, and quiet.Would definitely stay again and longer. Great trading post/gift shop on property as well as a cafeteria which made getting food easy and avoided having to get back in the car.
Comfortable bed which is a must for my back!
This time of year, there were no crowds. Had some great conversations with local Navajo residents. Don't miss the welcome center too!
