I really love Hanamura (Huajiantang Hotels & Resorts), and this stay at their Urban Retreat property was fantastic. It's located in a prime spot with views of the Bund and Lujiazui, making it very convenient for getting around. The lobby is elegantly and tastefully decorated, and the rooms are spacious and comfortable. The service was proactive and thoughtful – highly recommended! The breakfast buffet offered a rich variety of options, both nutritious and healthy. The hotel also arranged a travel photoshoot for us. The guidance was professional, and the photography was meticulous. Since we were celebrating two important anniversaries, we were very pleased with the final photos.

This is definitely my top choice for a hotel near the Bund. It's incredibly convenient with plenty of food options and shopping malls nearby. Yu Garden is right across the street, and the Bund is just a ten-minute walk away. The hotel itself is a unique blend of old and new architecture, a real standout in the area. The location is superb, and the front desk staff are so kind and thoughtful. From cleanliness to service, the rooms are absolutely five-star. Highly recommend staying here!

Cons: 1. **Parking Trouble**: I was specifically looking for a hotel with parking, but while the hotel offers parking cards, they don't have their own dedicated spaces. The spots are all managed by the property, and the hotel provides cards after handwritten license plate registration, presumably to confirm guests with the property management – which is perfectly fine. What bothered me was: ① The parking is in the basement of an old building, and it reeked of stale urine! How long has it been since it was cleaned? Huajian Tang positions itself as a high-end brand of HUAZHU Hotels, but guests have to endure this stench every time they go to or from their car. ② Out of two elevators, only one goes to the basement parking. ③ Once you've found a spot, you're hesitant to drive out, fearing you won't find a spot upon returning. Parking is purely a matter of luck here. 2. **Room Value**: I booked a basic room for over 1000 RMB, which had sealed windows that couldn't be opened. The value for money is there if you don't have a car, but if you're paying over 2000 RMB for a room, you could easily stay in a 5-star hotel instead of here. 3. **Dim Lighting**: The lobby and my 10th-floor hallway were so dimly lit, I thought I'd walked into a nightclub. I don't understand why it's so dark; wouldn't a bit more light be better? I wouldn't recommend this place for older guests; it's easy to trip if your eyesight isn't great. 4. **Ineffective Air Conditioning**: When I turned on the AC, the panel showed 16 degrees. I thought, 'Wow, was the previous guest that afraid of heat?' I adjusted it to 24 degrees, only to realize later that it wasn't the previous guest who was heat-averse, but the AC itself wasn't cooling. Even at 16 degrees, it didn't get cool. I just made do for the night and checked out quickly the next day. 5. **Lack of Hangers**: There were very few hangers, as if they expect guests to only stay for one night. 6. **Insufficient Seating**: Only one chair in the bedroom; they could definitely add another. Pros: 1. **Bedroom/Bathroom Privacy**: The bedroom and bathroom have doors, so they're not directly open to each other. 2. **Useful Vanity**: The dressing table was good and very practical.

The hotel's location is excellent, right near the Bund and within walking distance, making it super convenient for getting around and visiting attractions. The staff are warm, attentive, and respond quickly, which made me feel well taken care of. The room was clean and tidy, with a comfortable environment and cozy bedding, so I slept soundly. The breakfast was rich and varied, with both Chinese and Western options, all fresh and delicious. Overall, the experience was fantastic and I highly recommend it. I'll definitely choose this hotel again next time I'm in Shanghai.

Opening the window reveals breathtaking views of the Bund and its surroundings, equally stunning by day and night. The unobstructed vistas are perfect for photos, making every shot picture-perfect. The scenic experience is truly flawless. The hotel service is incredibly thoughtful and attentive. The staff were gentle and meticulous throughout my stay, making me feel right at home. Upon arrival, I was pleasantly surprised with fresh fruit and champagne, showcasing their attention to detail and creating a warm and delightful experience. The service quality is impeccable. The breakfast was also outstanding, with a rich and varied selection of both Chinese and Western dishes. The ingredients were fresh, and the flavors were spot on—refined and delicious, setting a great tone for the day. My entire stay was flawless, elegant, romantic, and comfortable. This is a highly recommended hotel for anyone staying near the Bund!

The room was nice and quite spacious! We arrived very late on the first day, and the air conditioning felt a bit weak, but everything else was good afterward. The balcony wasn't big, but the view was lovely. There's no exhaust fan in the bathroom, so the ventilation isn't great. However, the cleanliness was excellent. When we checked out, we passed by a room that had just been vacated and saw a cleaning lady meticulously cleaning the floor, which explains why my son's white socks weren't dirty even after walking barefoot on the floor. The front desk staff were also very friendly. Breakfast offered a good variety and everything tasted great, and the location was excellent. The complimentary travel photography session produced some fantastic shots. I'd likely choose this hotel again next time!

Traveling for business, I happened to be near the Bund. This hotel really stands out. I arrived quite late, and it seemed like a large group was checking in at the same time. The guy at the front desk was super enthusiastic and made sure everyone felt well-cared for. The service was spot on. Definitely worth spending more time here to enjoy the hotel next time.
