When I booked this ( through the well known booking portal)I knew it was going to be very budget but it was within my price range for one nights stay so I ****** it up. How wrong I could be . On arrival there was no parking as stated on the booking however put my van on a side street no issues. I was greeted in the hotel by a lady called Becky who I believe is the manager she kindly offered my to park my van in side entrance if I wanted . She took me to my room and ok so it was basic but goodness whoever is the cleaning housekeeping staff needs commending , my room & bathroom were spotless . Comfortable bed nice warm room had everything I needed. I went to the local Wetherspoon for food which I have to say was excellent. I got a nice glass of wine back at the hotel had a nice chat to Becky. Booked a breakfast which was cooked by herself… again amazing full English no complaints whatsoever again everything clean and well presented & only £7.00!! I cannot fault the hotel for what I paid and if I’m working in the area again I will definitely return . I hope the owner see this and appreciated the hard work Becky does as she really is hands on and keeps everything running smoothly

Great little place to stay. We was waiting for accommodation and stayed here a few times when I was pregnant. Great value for money and the staff are so friendly and attentive. The breakfast is also one of the best you can get in clacton. Highly recommend.I am a travel agent and been to 36th country’s and can say this little place is great if you are coming to clacton.

My stay was good and the staff extremely accommodating. However, a storm front came through during my stay and being on the sea front. It was so loud in my room it felt like I was in a tent for most of the night. In the morning there where downed fences and significant storm debris on the beach. It may not seem a fair review as there's not much the owners can do about the weather but it significantly detracted from my stay and I left a night early due to the projected weather for the following night.

Stayed here before. This time we had the bridal suite, absolutely beautiful and stunning decor, exceptionally clean and tidy hotel. Has 12 rooms and accommodation for families, has a full bar and nice little restaurant/breakfast bar Just a stone’s throw away from the beach with plenty of restaurants nearby. Definitely will return and recommend if you want a little get away

The mattress and pillows were so comfortable and we slept like logs. The staff were so friendly and the breakfast was amazing as I don't eat much and it was perfect. We will be going back for certain

Absolutely amazing hotel, immaculate rooms, such friendly staff that can't do enough for you! The morning breakfast highly recommended serving only quality ingredients. Enjoyed a perfect delicious fry every morning and not the greasy ones that we have been served before in other places and it is evidently fresh. All amenities are so handy here and within a minutes walk to the beach, shopping, restaurants, bars, nightclubs , boardwalk, promenade and the pier, which while we were here had live music every day and a fantastic vibe. I really enjoyed that! I have been to many places but this as a large family break and get together has something for everyone!!!. We could do things as a group or just go do your own thing. You can do as much or as little as you like or just simply chill and enjoy the surroundings. I have fallen in love with this place! We had multiple rooms at this hotel and everyone loved theirs! The beds are extremely comfy ... Like sleeping on a cloud! Our group of 13 people varied in age, from 19 to 80, with various abilities and disabilities and this hotel catered for all! The bridal suite is something else with its own terrace, large room and huge bathroom! All rooms are light and airy with a quirky beach theme which is really nice. Genuinely can't wait to get back! One of the best family breaks I've ever had!

We booked The Pier Hotel for a 3 night stay,looking forward to a well earned break. When we arrived we met the Manager Becky who showed us to our room, although the room was a little small we felt it was ok for our 3 night stay. In the evening we decided to visit the bar. I was told there was no draught beer as it had not been turned on at this time. Not ideal but we made the most of what was on offer and sat down with our drinks. It wasn't too long before we became aware that things did not "feel right". Shortly after this my wife then saw someone in the smoking area of the property taking *****,even more disturbing was that the member of staff who was behind the bar and had direct eye contact with this event did not act on the situation. After the event one of the people involved in the situation returned into the property and went upstairs in the hotel. At this stage we felt very uncomfortable, decided to finish our drinks and return to our room for the night. The following morning when we were ready we made our way downstairs for breakfast. There appeared to be no one downstairs apart from a chef in kitchen who informed us there was no breakfast, it would seem we had not booked for breakfast, this was not very clear on booking but we would have expected a breakfast on a £393.00 room! I would also like to add that, as we did leave our room to go down for "breakfast" there was a very strong smell of ******** on the landing outside our room, this was totally unacceptable, especially as there is a notice in the room advising visitor's that smoking in the hotel is strictly prohibited and would not be tolerated! By this time we decided this was not a place we could continue to stay in for a further two nights and decided to leave. As there was no one else to tell that we were "checking out" we left our room key with the chef. He took my wife's contact number and said he would ask the Manager to call her when she arrived at the hotel around 09.30, needless to say my wife never received any call. It was left to my wife to call later in the afternoon to confirm we had left, as a matter of courtsey. A very disappointing stay, to say the least, looking forward to a well earned break, turning into somewhat of a nightmare, we had no choice but to return home.
