from the first interaction, the staff was extremely helpful and friendly. they helped us with both amazing attention to detail and even impeccable valet parking. the room we stayed in was acclimated and very cozy; they also provide hot water, basic hygiene facilities and clean towels in every bathroom. the next morning, the buffet was delicious and the staff helped with special requests that were not obligatory but definitely appreciated. resuming, the hotel is impeccable, i would recommend with my eyes closed every time

We had 40+ guests for our 40th wedding anniversary party. Many guests took photos of the decor of the hotel which was beautifully decorated for Christmas. The food was outstanding in both presentation and quality. Everything was ready promptly according to our schedule. The staff was very attentive. They quickly made places for additional guests, and provided additional food options for guest with restrictive diets on the spot. Everything was very professionally and beautifully done.

The hotel has no ambiance and charges money for every glass you break, even though you cleaned up the mess yourself and informed the reception about the incident. This is no five star service and customer unfriendly. At arrival you get a huge contract with all conditions of your stay. The only positieve review I can give is for the nice personnel in the restaurant during breakfast. And the ladies at the reception in the afternoon.

We stayed at the San Juan Hotel in Cuenca, Ecuador for the last few days of our amazing tour with Ecuador Expat Journeys. Everything about our stay was outstanding!! Our room was large and beautifully decorated, our bathroom was spacious with excellent water pressure, everything was immaculate! The staff at San Juan Hotel are fantastic - everyone was professional, helpful, welcoming and efficient! Our breakfasts were excellent, with lots of variety and fresh fruit! An absolutely beautiful hotel in a perfect neighborhood - quiet, yet close to everything! Highly recommend it!

The hotel is a colonial building very well conserved. The room are very nice, and the service is excellent. The hotel has many small places to sit and enjoy. Also a very nice garden, that you see from some of the room. There is also a spa, and very high end rooms. The breakfast is very good, and in some days you get specialties like Ceviche de camarón y trucha, or mote pillo, two nice local dishes, along with a well served continental breakfast. Juice of Andean Mora is a must. Location is right in the center of the Historic neighborhood of Cuenca, two blocks down the Cathedral, better imposible.

I have been to France many times through the years and enjoyed the awesome pastries. South of the US, I have struggled to find croissants worthy of the name, that is, until now. Trying to find pastry and coffee at 7;30 am before most of Cuenca has even awakened? That is no simple task. I walked and walked to 3 places, according to google, which would be open; no luck. Happily, I found the gorgeous San Juan Hotel and their sweet coffee and pastry area. The chocolate croissant was equal to any I've eaten in France, truly; flaky, buttery, and filled with excellent quality chocolate. When I mentioned how pleased I was, the wait staff asked if I would like to meet the chef. Alexis Paredes, is the genius. Upon conversing with him, he told me that he is self taught re: making croissants. Thank you Alexis Paredes!! M. Sarlat

Vinimos con mis primos a disfrutar de las fiestas de Cuenca y realmente el Hotel San Juan fue el complemento perfecto para nuestra estadía. Desde que llegamos, la atención fue de primera: todo el personal es amable, atento y siempre con una sonrisa. Las habitaciones son amplias, con camas suaves que invitan al descanso después de un día de paseo, y algo que me encantó fue el aroma tan agradable que se percibe en todas las instalaciones. El desayuno buffet 10/10 Se nota la calidad y el cuidado en cada rincón del hotel, tanto en sus espacios coloniales llenos de historia como dentro de las habitaciones, donde todo está impecable y pensado para la comodidad del huésped. Sin duda, una experiencia que hizo de nuestro viaje en familia algo especial. Recomendado totalmente para quienes buscan hospedarse en el corazón de Cuenca y sentirse como en casa
