Datong Ancient City Xinyue Homestay

Everything was ok. Room was clean, with nice views and as depicted in the web. Staff is kind and helpful. You can ask them for advice to visit the main hotpots in Datong. But bear in mind that this is an b&b with no proper reception desk. You need to contact the property in advance, or go to the liquor shop next door otherwise. The hotel does not provide real towels but disposable towels (made of paper).

The receptionist is awesome, she gave us all instructions for good restaurants and the public transportation to go to the attractions. The location is great. But they don’t offer real towels, just disposable towels.

Incredibly clean and well kept. Super comfy bed and amazing views. All fantastic, honestly. Perhaps the one thing I disliked was the lack of proper towels but rather single-use, disposable towels which didn't particularly help drying after showering.

Great stay! The place was in the center of Datong and close to the ancient city. The room is big and was very clean! The host is very responsive.

Excellent stay and location near Datong ancient city wall with a lot of food options nearby (must try the sliced noodles, local specialty). Great place to rest after visiting all of the nearby attractions and walking all day. The room is very clean, spacious, bright and well equipped. Additional bonus is that you don’t have to carry a key around since the doors are equipped with combination locks that are customized for your stay. I recommend this hotel and would return on a future trip. Note: There is no front desk or reception and the rooms are spread out in a large multi-story building. Make sure to get in contact with the hotel once you arrive and the manager will meet you at the lobby and take you to your room. If you don’t speak Chinese, having a translation app is also useful.
