Pipa Old Inn ★★★
Nestled deeply within the ancient city walls, this charming heritage guesthouse is prized for its authentic traditional courtyard architecture and an incredibly immersive historical living experience.
GRAND PAVILION HOTEL ★★★
"The service is good, the facilities are a bit old, the room is a bit small, it is relatively close to the ancient city, but you still need to take a taxi to get there. Fortunately, the price is not high, there should be more tour groups"
Howard Johnson Plaza Jindi ★★★★★
Offering world-class sophistication in the heart of the CBD, this elegant international destination is famous for its outstanding wellness facilities and panoramic views of the developing skyline.
Four Points by Sheraton Datong Pingcheng (Datong Ancient City) ★★★★
"The hotel's facilities are excellent. The lobby is grand and elegant, and the rooms are spacious with good hygiene. The location is very convenient for tourists; it's only about a ten to twelve-minute walk to the Datong Ancient City direct shuttle bus stop. In the evenings, you can walk through the ancient city and past the Heyang Gate to reach the Sipaifang commercial food street, which is always bustling. It's so convenient and comfortable to enjoy the beautiful ancient city views and explore the Dongnanyi Historical and Cultural Pedestrian Street. I highly recommend this hotel! 👍"
Meijing Hotel ★★★★
"Excellent location, and the security staff were very friendly and helpful. Parking was convenient, and the front desk staff were warm and enthusiastic. The room was clean and tidy, and I was very satisfied with the arrangement."
OKDAY Hotel (Datong Ancient City, Huayan Temple, Datong) ★★★★
Located steps away from majestic Buddhist landmarks, this stylish boutique stay is celebrated for its highly photogenic interior aesthetics and incredibly convenient exploration of ancient streets.
Mercure Datong Railway Station ★★★★
"I checked in at night and Xiao Tian handled everything quickly. There was a faint smell of smoke in the twin room for some reason, but the staff were very proactive in resolving the issue and upgraded us to a family room. Overall, it was a great experience. The hotel is very close to the high-speed train station, which is perfect if you're leaving by train the next day. It's even more affordable if you have a Ctrip voucher."
JIANGUO PALACE Datong Pingcheng Hotel ★★★★
Datong Onetwo Hotel(Datong ancient city Daiwangfu shop) ★★★★
"The house was quite clean, and the small courtyard was especially great for families with kids. They even gave us a souvenir when we checked out. Overall, our stay was very pleasant and satisfying."

Choose the Perfect Datong Stay for Your Travel Needs
Wyndham Grand Plaza Royale , Datong
"The hotel decor is luxurious and the room facilities are excellent. The soundproofing could be better, but it's acceptable. The main issue is the chaotic breakfast. No matter what time you go, there are no seats available, so you have to wait nearby. Every chef preparing food has a terrible attitude. Even if you're polite, they won't speak to you nicely. If you ask for a pancake, they'll act annoyed and tell you to wait, as they're making small crepes. They made a whole plate of small crepes. When I asked if they could make a pancake, they didn't even look up and just said no, still pouring batter to make more small crepes, even though no one was taking them. The noodle and shaved noodle chefs were the same. If something ran out and you asked for a refill, they'd just say, 'Wait.' Despite the seemingly large restaurant, there aren't many edible options. The lamb offal soup with noodles and pancakes tasted good, but you'll have to queue for fried eggs. Both days, I witnessed guests arguing with staff. If I hadn't been traveling with my child, I wouldn't have let them get away with it; it's truly outrageous. Paying 1,400 for a hotel doesn't require amazing service, but couldn't they at least be polite? Also, there are no delivery robots in the hotel. If you order takeout, you have to go down to the entrance of Yungang to pick it up yourself. Apart from the decor, it really doesn't feel like a five-star hotel at all. There are no supermarkets nearby either; you have to walk a long way to buy anything. For those looking for a good hotel, be cautious. If you don't eat breakfast and don't order takeout, it might be an option, otherwise, it's really inconvenient and you'll end up frustrated!"
Da Tong Weidu International Hotel
"Initially, I was given a windowless room which was a very old king-sized room. All the buttons on the headboard were broken, and there was only one side with a charging port. It was also very noisy as it was close to the elevator. The shower drain had some issues as well. After I gave feedback, they changed me to a windowless tatami room, which was generally okay. However, there weren't enough tissues, and the toilet paper ran out too quickly. The hotel is about a two-kilometer walk from the ancient city. The value for money is just so-so. No one reminded us about the late-night congee service either."
Datong Yungang Hotel
Delivering reliable upscale comfort in a strategic commercial neighbourhood, this prominent property is highly regarded for its spacious guest rooms and seamless connectivity to major historical sites.
Rui Feng Hotel
"Staying at Ruifeng Tower was definitely the best decision for our Datong trip! The hotel is located right in the heart of the ancient city, within walking distance of attractions like Huayan Temple and Shanhua Temple, making it super convenient. The rooms have an antique charm, and when you open the window, you're greeted with the sight of traditional courtyards and intricate eaves. What truly delighted me were the books in the room. Reading them before bed, the glory of Pingcheng during the Northern Wei Dynasty and the prosperity of the Liao and Jin secondary capitals came alive on the pages, adding a wonderful cultural depth to our journey. The breakfast buffet was abundant, and the staff were warm and professional. Next time I'm in Datong, I'll definitely choose Ruifeng Tower again, to immerse myself in the unique charm of this ancient capital amidst its scholarly ambiance and historic beauty!"
Xi Yue Hotel
"The hotel facilities are relatively new, and the environment is very nice."
Lihao International Hotel
"The hotel was new and the rooms were clean, but the service was terrible! We arrived at the front desk at night, and there were three or four staff members standing there laughing and joking. After I showed my ID, they told me that someone had already checked me in?! It turned out that after a long discussion, they realized it was because a man with the same name as me had booked the same room type, and they gave him the room I had booked in advance (I had noted that I didn't want the last room and wanted it away from the elevator)?! Such a big hotel?! Don't they even check the information when registering guests? The phone numbers are different, and the genders are different too?! While I was standing at the front desk late at night waiting for them to resolve the issue, the receptionist kept yelling about what to do about the man's booking?! Where was I supposed to stand?! She didn't even apologize, and she was yelling at me about the wrong booking!! Am I supposed to fix her problem? Is this how you train your staff for such a big hotel? And this is supposed to be number one on the luxury list? Is this the level of service you're providing? Don't tell me it's because there are too many guests during the Chinese New Year. If you're so busy during the holidays, how could you make a mistake checking guest information? After making me stand for at least ten minutes, they finally gave me a room. They even gave me a last-minute room near the elevator! When I saw this, I called the front desk, and they said, "Oh, all the rooms you booked are last-minute rooms?" Why didn't you write on the booking page that all City View Suites are last-minute rooms? It felt like the staff didn't know what they were doing; the service was completely disproportionate to the hotel's quality! Oh, and by the way, the laundry room was closed during the New Year period, and they didn't mention this at all when I messaged customer service during booking. 😃 The score is for cleanliness and hotel infrastructure; service is zero."
Garden Hotel
"The location is fantastic! Turn left out of the hotel and you're right at the Drum Tower, and Huayan Temple is just a short walk away. In the evening, I grabbed a number at the nearby Longjuxiang restaurant, then came back to the hotel to relax. I only headed back over when it was almost our turn, about half an hour later. The Chinese restaurant here is also delicious; the braised pork belly exceeded my expectations. The hotel's garden is highly regarded by locals too. Overall, I'm very satisfied."
JinHuangQi Homestay (Huayan Temple in Datong Ancient City)
"The guesthouse is located in the pedestrian street of Southeast Yi, a quiet place in the bustling city. The interior design is a wabi-sabi style courtyard. All the staff are warm and helpful. The four rooms in the east, west, south, and north offer views of the central garden. There are also private hot springs and in-room massage services. After sightseeing, you can relax in your room with tea. It's a very pleasant stay."
Kyoto International Hotel (Datong Daqing Road RT-Mart)
"Facilities: The hotel seems newly opened; all the facilities are brand new. Cleanliness: This was disappointing. Upon arrival, the front desk said they had assigned us a cleaned room, but the toilet was disgusting and hadn't been cleaned at all before we checked in. However, the staff were very responsible and quickly called someone to clean it. Service: The front desk staff were welcoming, and the female manager was attentive and responsible. The breakfast was a bit too simple, and the restaurant was small, with only 6 square tables and 1 round table. During the summer peak season, you might have to wait for a table in the morning."
Yinxin Homestay
"Very good, clean and hygienic"
HIDDENALLEY hotel
"This is a fantastic B&B in Datong Ancient City. Located next to the Kuixing Tower, it's a bit less bustling than the Drum Tower. The courtyard is serene with a small bridge and flowing water. The room was spacious and comfortable, and the owner was incredibly kind, patient, and attentive. We took the high-speed rail from Beijing, and the B&B provided free shuttle service for both trips. It was incredibly convenient! I'll definitely stay here again next time I visit Datong."
Shangdu Hotel
"This hotel offers massage and bathing facilities. The rooms are spacious, and the bedding is quite comfortable. We were a large group, so we booked three rooms. In one room, the duvet cover felt a bit damp, probably due to the weather and not being dried thoroughly. We reported it, and they promptly replaced it. I particularly want to recommend the massages in the massage area; the technique was excellent, and the price was very reasonable. It was perfect for unwinding after a day of city walking. The only slight drawback is that the restaurant is shared with the adjacent eLong hotel, and the food there wasn't quite up to par."
Yungang Meigao Hotel
"Stayed at the Megao Hotel for four days, and overall it was a great experience. It's about 2 kilometers from the South City Wall, quite central. The hotel's decor is a bit dated, but the staff's enthusiasm more than makes up for it. The front desk was always helpful with any issues. Housekeepers Liu Rihong and Liu Dan were also very warm and accommodating. Definitely a good review!"
Four Seasons Holiday Hotel (Datong Yungang Road)
"The room was spacious, quiet, clean, and bright, with comfortable bedding and a beautiful environment. The front desk service was warm and attentive. Furthermore, the location was perfect! Situated between the ancient city and the Yungang Grottoes, it's close to everything. There are many bus lines right outside, and taxis are readily available, making it the ideal accommodation for exploring Datong. A perfect experience! This hotel combines excellent location with a high-quality accommodation experience, making it a perfect choice for visiting Datong. It's a very cost-effective hotel and highly recommended! [Strong][Strong][Strong]"
Pingyun Bieyuan (Ancient City Wall Store)
"Best customer service we experienced during our 2+ week China trip. From the moment we arrived at the train station to the moment we left the hotel. Excellent location, walking distance to main points of interests within Datong ancient city walls. Fish pond gives hotel a unique positive vibe."
Moshang Light Luxury Hotel (Datong Ancient City Huayan Temple Branch)
"Stepping into the room, I was instantly wowed by the seamless blend of technology and aesthetic design! The in-room smart voice control was incredibly responsive. The bedding felt like sleeping on clouds, and the separate wet/dry bathroom design was absolutely perfect. Every detail exuded a light luxury vibe; staying here felt like a top-tier reward for both body and mind~ 🌟 The location is super convenient, close to everything. It was easy to get to popular foodie spots and explore the ancient city's attractions. The hotel service was also excellent; they helped with luggage storage, and there was even traditional clothing available for a fun experience!"
