Pipa Old Inn

Datong Jixiashan · SUNYATA Resort Hotel
"Shortly after booking the hotel, I was added to a concierge service group, and they contacted us in advance. The hotel is located within the ancient city, just a 2-minute walk from the Dongnanyi business district. Huayan Temple and Daiwang Mansion are also nearby, making it incredibly convenient for getting around! The hotel's style is perfect for photos, and the bedding is clean and high-quality, which is great for someone as particular as me. The hotel has its own Yungang Art Museum for guests to visit, and every staff member, from the front desk to the back office, was polite and courteous. In the afternoon, they provided tea, snacks, and dried fruits, and for late-night returns, there was a sweet pear soup – every detail was meticulously thought out. Breakfast offered a wide variety of dishes, including salmon, steak, and sliced noodles. During the May Day holiday, there were Guzheng performances and fire pot shows in the evening. It was a very pleasant stay!"

Longxuan Residence Light Luxury Elegant Accommodation
"Here is a breakdown of what makes this residence a notable choice in Datong: 1. Location & Atmosphere • Prime Setting: It is situated in the Bolan Wulong Lane community, specifically near the Wuding Gate of the Ancient City. • Convenience: It is within walking distance of major historical sites like Huayan Temple, the Nine Dragon Wall, and the Ancient City Walls. • Design: The property was designed by a well-known domestic architect. It features a traditional Chinese courtyard layout that provides a quiet, serene escape from the city bustle. 2. "Light Luxury" Amenities The "light luxury" (轻奢) label comes from its high-end interior hardware, which stands out among local boutique hotels: • Sleep & Tech: Rooms are equipped with Mousse bedding, solid black walnut furniture, and smart home features like XGIMI (Jimmy) projectors. • Bath & Grooming: You’ll find Kohler sanitary ware, Dyson hair dryers, and 3M soft water filtration systems for the entire house. • Appliances: Rooms often include Westinghouse refrigerators and high-quality tea-making facilities. 3. Guest Experience • Smart Features: Most rooms are integrated with whole-house smart controls (lighting, climate, and entertainment). • Personalized Service: Reviewers frequently praise the "butler-style" service, which includes custom-prepared breakfasts and helpful local travel advice. • Room Variety: Options range from 23 m^2 tatami rooms to 580 m^2 deluxe courtyard villas for large groups. The bathroom was very small and a little bit smelly but overall we had a good time here and the price was more than reasonable"
Yunzhong Chaoran Pavilion (Huayan Temple Branch, Datong Ancient Town)
"This hotel is a real treat! A beautiful hotel with large rooms, an excellent breakfast and outstanding service. Highly recommend staying at Yunzhong Chaoran. Thank you for a fantastic stay."
Dadan Hotel
"I initially booked for one night but I decided to stay for another night. Total two nights in the same room. Room is very clean, very quiet and the bed was superb, I slept very well. Staff super friendly and helpful. Hotel's location is about 10mins taxi from the old town centre but it is very convenient. If you don't like super crowded area with noisy street vendors and many tourists, I would recommend this place. I personally really enjoyed staying at this hotel, will definitely stay here again if I come back to Datong in future."
Datong Xinyu Crown Hotel
"Very convenient for the High Speed Train station. The hotel is located in an affluent local neighbourhood and is a mere 5 minutes walk away from good food."

Da Tong Weidu International Hotel
"I had a great experience at this hotel! The staff are very friendly. Great price and good location."
BAILI Designer Homestay
"Stayed in Datong for what was supposed to be one night - and ended up staying three) The breakfast alone deserves mention: it felt closer to fine dining - carefully prepared dishes, beautiful presentation, and real attention to flavor. The staff made everything easy despite the language barrier. They were patient, creative, and genuinely warm - you could see they wanted guests to feel comfortable, and it worked. I had a surprisingly soulful time here. Something about the atmosphere, the care from the team, and the calm pace made my stay memorable. Of all the hotels I experienced in China, this is the one I will remember as the best!"
SUMMORI HOTEL
"The environment is great and very comfortable. Even though the ancient city was packed during the May Day holiday, this place felt like a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle. After exploring, it was so relaxing to come back to the courtyard. The butler service was excellent too. The courtyard's location is perfect, making it easy to get anywhere. The butler mentioned they developed the Southeast Yiborough, and it's definitely worth checking out – every shop there has its own unique charm. The only minor issue was the breakfast; while it looked lovely and was beautifully presented, it wasn't very tasty. The asparagus wasn't blanched, which made it taste a bit odd. I'd still stay here again if I come back to Datong."
PINGCHENGFUHOTEL
"Every detail of this hotel was top notch! It was our first time in Datong, and staying at pingcheng hotel was one of the best decision we made! From the moment you arrive they greet you with a welcome drinks and fruits! The foot bath service felt amazing after a long day walking around the grottoes. The hotel is located in the quieter quarter of the ancient city. I would totally go back to stay at this hotel! They even got us a bag of Shanxi souvenirs!💖 The only thing I'd recommend to improve would be the breakfast selection. Adding cheese & ham and some other continental breakfast option would be great for foreign tourists."
Xi Yue Hotel
"First negative review for a hotel: My family of three booked a five-day, four-night trip to Datong, and the experience was terrible. First, breakfast: My son is 9 years old and 154cm tall. The Ctrip website stated that children over 120cm were charged 24 yuan, but it didn't mention that children over 150cm would be charged full price. We paid 24 yuan the first day. On the second day, the front desk demanded 48 yuan because he was over 150cm. After we argued, they let us in as a favor, charging us 24 yuan. On the third day, they again refused us entry, again citing his height, and ultimately charged us 48 yuan. The actual service did not match the official advertising; this is price fraud and false advertising. The same staff at the same hotel had different results every day, with no standard. I immediately filed a complaint with 12315. (See photos) Second, the hot spring: The hotel offered free tickets, so we tried it with my child. It was just a small bathhouse, occupying only three floors of the hotel. Is each floor 68,000 square meters? (See photos) This is serious false advertising. The drinks were all cheap, sugary beverages. The most outrageous thing was that even though I hadn't made any extra purchases, the front desk insisted I used a 6-yuan chargeable towel, claiming it was recorded on my wristband. Why was there a record on my wristband if I didn't make any purchases? We argued at the checkout for ages before they finally gave in, which really ruined my mood. As for the cold service, substandard hygiene, and unpleasant smells in the room and hallway, I won't go into detail. It was a terrible stay. As an ordinary consumer, I'm giving an honest review and promptly checked out to avoid this situation."
Yu'an Jing Hotel
"I stumbled upon this hotel and my experience was absolutely fantastic. The overall decor is stylish and creates a wonderful ambiance. My room had a great view, was beautifully furnished, and paid attention to every detail. The cleanliness was impeccable; everything was spotless, and the bedding was soft and skin-friendly, making for an excellent night's sleep. The staff were friendly and provided thoughtful, attentive service, making me feel very welcome. The surrounding scenery and amenities are also great, perfect for a leisurely stroll. From the environment and service to the facilities, I couldn't find a single flaw. I had a truly pleasant stay and it's definitely on my re-book list!"
Datong Dongxin Square Intercity Hotel
"Clean and beautiful environment, very good."
OKDAY Hotel (Datong Ancient City, Huayan Temple, Datong)
Located steps away from majestic Buddhist landmarks, this stylish boutique stay is celebrated for its highly photogenic interior aesthetics and incredibly convenient exploration of ancient streets.
Floral Hotel·Yan Zhen ju quadrangle Hotel (Datong ancient city branch)
"We had a wonderful stay at 花筑·演真居四合院 (Datong Ancient City Drum Tower Hotel). From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by a friendly staff member who went out of his way to provide us with excellent tips on nearby restaurants, which enhanced our dining experience. The room itself was spacious and warm, offering a cozy retreat after exploring the city. One of the highlights was the beautiful courtyard, which provided a serene atmosphere to relax and unwind. The location is perfect, situated right in the heart of the Ancient City, making it easy to access local attractions. Overall, our experience was fantastic, and we highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Datong. It truly made our trip memorable!"
DaTong YuZhu Hotel
"The room rate was around 600. I booked two rooms, but the lighting was extremely dim. When I booked, it wasn't mentioned that they were mahjong rooms, but when I arrived, they were indeed mahjong rooms. The rooms were also dirty, reeking of cigarette smoke, and extremely smelly. The facilities were very old, the walls were covered in water stains, the faucets were rusty, and there were even forks left by previous guests in the sofa crevices. Parking was very inconvenient; they wouldn't open the garage door until I called security, and it took a long time before they opened it for me. The front desk insisted on collecting a deposit upon check-in, although they refunded it upon departure, it was a waste of time and gave me a very poor experience!"
Cloud Villa | Scenic Designer Hotel by Ancient Wall (Huayan Temple, Datong)
HIDDENALLEY hotel
"Great hospitality and location. Loved the bathtub. Clean environment, would recommend 100%"
Cloudspa Sanctuary
"The overall environment was quite nice, and the room was acceptable. However, eating breakfast in the room wasn't ideal. Firstly, the room was small with no suitable dining area; I ate on the platform that day. The selection was fixed, and the food was cold by the time it arrived. There was no hanging area for coats, so there was no place to put any luggage. The minibar wasn't stocked much either, with only three bottles of Perrier, beer, and some other beverage. The bathroom area lacked razors, hair ties, and the most basic toothpaste and toothbrush. At this price, I wouldn't consider staying a second time. It felt like the price and service were only around 700-800 RMB. They offered a pick-up and drop-off service, but the car was unavailable, so I had to take a taxi. They offered to reimburse me, but didn't mention it. The next day, they offered to take us, but I had already indicated I didn't need it and had other plans. I mentioned this in the group chat the night before. It felt neither sophisticated nor modern, trying to provide 1:1 service but failing to pay attention to details. We went straight to the room upon entering; there wasn't even a lobby. Compared to a five-star hotel, it lacked standard procedures. Although I haven't stayed in luxury hotels, I've stayed at Six Senses, Marriott, Westin, W, and similar establishments quite a bit. I've experienced quite a few guesthouses, including Jiurang in Guilin and Nalishu in Gaoligong Mountain, Tengchong—places that are sure to be covered in dirt. Overall, they were neither particularly good nor bad. But they can't be compared to these…"
Datong Huangjing Century Hot Spring Hotel
"The staff's service was particularly commendable; the young lady greeted us with a warm smile upon check-in. She always greeted us proactively, making us feel especially cared for. The hot spring water was clear and had a distinct natural mineral aroma."
Shanyou Lake Resort Hotel
GRAND PAVILION HOTEL
"I have already checked in. The environment and sanitation are very good. I like this hotel very much. Next time I come to Datong, I will stay there again. There is a free breakfast buffet with many varieties of food, which is very good. The waiter at the front desk is also very polite, and the lady is also super gentle and cute, Sister Wenwen."
Xinzun Boutique Hotel (Datong High-speed Railway Station Fangte Branch)
"Nice hotel with helpful and generous staff, easy transportation and taxis into the old town and further afield to see the sights. Great location near the railway station, 🚉."
I Lai Hotel
"It looks like a brand new spot clean hotel. Very quiet no issues."
Hidden hotel
"The room was clean and tidy, and they even provided a baby cot for my little one, which was a thoughtful touch. Breakfast was delicious, and the front desk staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Overall, I highly recommend this hotel; it was a very pleasant stay and a great trip."
