Pipa Old Inn ★★★
Nestled deeply within the ancient city walls, this charming heritage guesthouse is prized for its authentic traditional courtyard architecture and an incredibly immersive historical living experience.
FUNGEE Hotel (Dongxin Plaza, Datong) ★★★★
"The room was clean and bright, and the zero-pressure mattress was incredibly comfortable. The smart facilities were a nice touch. I loved the claw machine in the lobby, and the game coins left as a room surprise were a lot of fun. The breakfast had a great variety, and the local lamb offal soup and knife-cut noodles were delicious. The free laundry room and Hanfu experience were unexpected bonuses. The service was attentive, the location was convenient, and it offered excellent value for money. Definitely worth returning!"
Country Inn & Suites by Radisson Hotel (Datong Gucheng ) ★★★
"There are many restaurants nearby, so eating out is very convenient. I recommend this one."
OKDAY Hotel (Datong Ancient City, Huayan Temple, Datong) ★★★★
Located steps away from majestic Buddhist landmarks, this stylish boutique stay is celebrated for its highly photogenic interior aesthetics and incredibly convenient exploration of ancient streets.
Radisson RED Datong ★★★★
"The front desk service was excellent; they addressed any issues immediately. The room decor was lovely, and the bedding was very comfortable and clean. It's a great choice for families with children."
Lihao International Hotel ★★★★★
"The hotel was new and the rooms were clean, but the service was terrible! We arrived at the front desk at night, and there were three or four staff members standing there laughing and joking. After I showed my ID, they told me that someone had already checked me in?! It turned out that after a long discussion, they realized it was because a man with the same name as me had booked the same room type, and they gave him the room I had booked in advance (I had noted that I didn't want the last room and wanted it away from the elevator)?! Such a big hotel?! Don't they even check the information when registering guests? The phone numbers are different, and the genders are different too?! While I was standing at the front desk late at night waiting for them to resolve the issue, the receptionist kept yelling about what to do about the man's booking?! Where was I supposed to stand?! She didn't even apologize, and she was yelling at me about the wrong booking!! Am I supposed to fix her problem? Is this how you train your staff for such a big hotel? And this is supposed to be number one on the luxury list? Is this the level of service you're providing? Don't tell me it's because there are too many guests during the Chinese New Year. If you're so busy during the holidays, how could you make a mistake checking guest information? After making me stand for at least ten minutes, they finally gave me a room. They even gave me a last-minute room near the elevator! When I saw this, I called the front desk, and they said, "Oh, all the rooms you booked are last-minute rooms?" Why didn't you write on the booking page that all City View Suites are last-minute rooms? It felt like the staff didn't know what they were doing; the service was completely disproportionate to the hotel's quality! Oh, and by the way, the laundry room was closed during the New Year period, and they didn't mention this at all when I messaged customer service during booking. 😃 The score is for cleanliness and hotel infrastructure; service is zero."
Pingyun Bieyuan (Ancient City Wall Store) ★★★★
"Datong Ancient City Small Garden B&B offers a delightful stay with its elegant waterscape. The cleanliness was impeccable, and the service was warm and attentive. We had a minor issue with our room, but the owner graciously upgraded us to a family room. The breakfast selection was also quite unique and flavorful."
Datong Wanda Yuehua Hotel (Datong Ancient City) ★★★★
"The room was clean and tidy, and the service was thoughtful. The front desk staff were very warm and attentive, helping with all sorts of requests. The hotel also upgraded us to a family room for free, and even arranged for a packed breakfast when we had an early start. It was a very pleasant stay."
Datong Hanting Holiday Hotel (Datong Ancient City) ★★★
"When changing the sheets, the bed was not swept and changed directly. There were other people's hair under the sheets."

"This hotel is truly excellent, and the staff are incredibly warm and attentive! As soon as you enter the lobby, the front desk staff greet you, and they're patient in answering any questions. The self-service tea bar, coffee, and snacks are all great too. The rooms are spacious, very clean, and even come with an AI assistant (Xiao Ai Tong Xue), which is super convenient. The breakfast spread is also extensive, with plenty of hot and cold dishes, main courses, and fruits! Seriously, I'm not exaggerating – I genuinely recommend this place for anyone visiting Datong! 👍🏻"
Kyoto International Hotel (Datong Daqing Road RT-Mart)
"The hotel is newly opened, and the front desk staff were very welcoming and meticulous. The housekeeping staff were especially diligent and quick to clean. The room is similar to Atour Hotel in terms of amenities, but offers better value for money, a refreshing change amidst the soaring hotel prices during the summer. The shower was particularly excellent, with great service. There's a soaking tub and sauna – a truly amazing experience. You need to bring your own towel; otherwise, it costs 6 yuan per day. You can also try the massage services provided by the masseuses."
JinHuangQi Homestay (Huayan Temple in Datong Ancient City)
"Ideally located within Datong Ancient City, this guesthouse is within walking distance of major attractions such as Huayan Temple and the Drum Tower. Converted from a traditional courtyard, the environment is quiet and clean, with a comfortable atmosphere that blends local cultural elements. Rooms are clean and well-maintained. The private hot spring experience is a highlight, offering excellent privacy and a stable water temperature. The staff are friendly and responsive, making check-in a smooth process. Ideal for travelers seeking convenient accommodation within the ancient city while also enjoying tranquility and local character."
Gaodu Boutique Hotel
"The homestay is very easy to find, the environment and health are great. It’s not far from the core area of the ancient city. At night, I went to see the iron flower. The boss also lent us the electric car. Riding the electric car at night, the weather is cool and it’s really good."
Wan Tu·Lanting Volcano Hot Spring Healing Resort Courtyard
"The rooms are clean and comfortable, and the decoration is high-end, especially each room has a separate hot spring pool. You don’t need to touch the body lotion after the hot spring water. The small courtyard has a beautiful environment. Now there is a rare paradise. The best choice for leisure and vacation. The service attitude is not to say, it makes people feel like going home. You can also pick green vegetables, melons and fruits yourself, and barbecue yourself. It is the best place to go on holiday. I plan to go again next time on vacation."
Cloud Villa | Scenic Designer Hotel by Ancient Wall (Huayan Temple, Datong)
"The environment is grand yet rustic, and my parents found it perfectly quiet and relaxing during our stay. The butler was very attentive, proactively recommending local eateries. We tried Kaige Restaurant and Fenglin Ge, both of which were delicious. The facilities are also excellent. The room had a mini-fridge, and the hairdryer was a Dyson – truly attention to detail. The afternoon tea selection was quite rich, and both breakfast and coffee in the morning were superb. You can feel the thoughtfulness in every aspect, and the service was exceptionally on point. The location is also very convenient, saving us a lot of effort when visiting attractions. My family and I had a wonderfully comfortable stay. Thumbs up! 👍"
Datong Huangjing Century Hot Spring Hotel
"The hotel has complete facilities, is clean, and offers attentive service. Located in a health and wellness town, with a traditional Chinese medicine hospital downstairs, it's a good choice despite being a bit far from the city center. Ideal for those traveling by car. The hotel breakfast is quite plentiful. I would definitely stay here again. And a big thumbs up to the receptionist!"
HIDDENALLEY hotel
"A very nice, calm, and clean hotel. The staff were extremely kind and helpful throughout our stay. I highly recommend it. The driver arranged by the hotel was excellent as well, and I would also recommend booking activities directly through them."
Datong Jinyi Boutique Hotel
"The hotel was quite busy during the summer holidays, with a high occupancy rate. It seems to have been open for a while as the facilities are a bit dated, but everything was very clean. The location is good, and there's a car park available. Service was okay, nothing particularly stood out."
Renyi Inn
"Great location with easy access to attractions, right across the street from Huayan Temple. The room was clean, the bedding comfortable, and the owner was very welcoming. Excellent value for money."
