Kongshanliao Zen-style Boutique Hotel (Datong Ancient City Branch)​

Kongshan·Healing Moment: Location: Situated within the ancient city, it's convenient for exploring yet set away from the bustling city center. This perfectly aligns with its name, offering a tranquil escape. Facilities: The hotel's facilities are impeccable, with thoughtful touches evident everywhere. The welcome fruit was delicious, and the provided snacks were a lovely bonus. Cleanliness: Spotless. A top recommendation for anyone meticulous about hygiene. Ambiance: Japanese modern style. Service: The service was both attentive and genuinely warm. From pre-arrival communication, airport/station pick-up, check-in, and tour guidance to 24-hour personalized assistance—you just need to make a request, and the butler will cater to it (unreasonable demands excluded, of course!). Even though I only stayed for one day, I will fondly remember all the kind and warm-hearted people here. Thank you again, and I hope to visit you all again!

From the moment the B&B picked us up on the first day, we felt incredibly welcomed and cared for. The service remained exceptional throughout our four-day stay. The complimentary afternoon tea was thoughtfully prepared, and the fruit and cake were delicious – certainly not an afterthought! The B&B is conveniently located about 1 km (a leisurely 15-minute walk) from the Drum Tower in the ancient city center. You'll pass Kui Xing Tower and Daiwang Mansion along the way, making it a pleasant stroll. Alternatively, a taxi ride costs around 7 RMB. It's also very close to the North Gate, providing easy access to the city wall for cycling. The B&B was spotlessly clean. The only minor downside was that our particular room didn't come with a TV, but honestly, it wasn't a big deal at all. I haven't included photos of the B&B itself, as it looks exactly like the pictures advertised online. The picture I've uploaded is of the small wontons the 'auntie' freshly prepared and cooked for us in the morning – it truly made us feel at home. Hope to visit again soon!

I rarely review hotels or guesthouses, but from the moment I checked in here, I knew I'd have to write a glowing review after checking out. The host was incredibly welcoming and enthusiastic. They offer pick-up/drop-off service, but since we drove, we didn't need to use it. The amenities were fantastic: Bvlgari toiletries, hair oil, mouthwash, plus a variety of teas, drinks, snacks, and fresh fruit. Our laundry was washed, dried, and delivered back to our room. Breakfast was also exquisite and tasty. They offered recommendations for Datong's best food and must-see attractions, and were incredibly responsive to all our needs throughout our stay. Upon departure, each guest received a complimentary souvenir. Our stay at this guesthouse truly gave me a new appreciation for Datong. What wonderful people, what a charming city! 😄

The room was spacious and came with a small courtyard, offering a quiet environment. It was exceptionally clean, and the service was great. The bathroom amenities were comprehensive and thoughtfully provided. The only minor issue was the rainy weather we encountered, which impacted some of our sightseeing plans.

The hotel shuttle was very comfortable. We were pleasantly surprised to be upgraded to a family room upon arrival, which occupied the entire third floor! The decor was minimalist and comfortable, and all the amenities were thoughtfully provided. Every staff member was incredibly warm, attentive, and went above and beyond. The hotel's proximity to the city wall allowed us to enjoy views of the beautiful lanterns, which were especially stunning at night!

We took an impromptu trip to Datong and arrived from Beijing in just two hours. To our surprise, we stumbled upon such a gem of a hotel! We wanted to stay within the ancient city walls, so we opted for this newly opened hotel. We loved their interior design, but what truly blew us away was their incredible service. They offered luxury vehicle transfers, incredibly thoughtful service, and even afternoon tea. The owner also recommended a plethora of delicious local eateries, true hidden gems themselves. Our time was limited on this trip, but we'll definitely be back for a second stay!
