Went here on special deal and found out it was a very special place too! Firstly the views and area surrounding the hotel are just awesome (not a word I use often) and it isnt far from lots of lovely towns in the Cotswolds. We had a DBB deal and the dinner was fantastic top quality food served by really friendly staff - who all seemed to enjoy their work. Breakfast had great choice and the hot food cooked to order was top notch too. Room was very good and we had a ground floor one with a small garden with table and chairs - and a hot-tub! All the staff we met were so nice and helpful too. Overall it was a lovely relaxing stay and we will be back!

This is a superb place to stay! We stay here every year to travel to Cheltenham races and it is always amazing! The room, with hot tub is fantastic ! The food and service is beautiful and second to none and is great value for money! Its location is idyllic and I would not hesitate to recommend Charingworth Manor! Already looking forward to next year, especially due to extensive renovation that’s finished in May! Thank you!

I have visited Charingworth half a dozen times over the last few years and it has been my families go to place for celebrating birthdays, anniversaries etc, but sadly no more my recent visit will be my last. We had booked an all in deal of dinner bed and breakfast which included a bottle of Prosecco to celebrate our wedding anniversary. On arrival we were shown our room along with our wine and ice bucket but we’re then informed in no uncertain terms that we could only drink it in our room or off the premises, how petty is that. The meal in the restaurant was ok but nothing special and upon requesting the dessert menu were told that this would be an extra £11, this on the top of the £12 for a g&t. The next morning we were told that a 10% charge had been added to our bill for staff gratuities but that we could refuse if we wished. All these charges and pettyness has cost you our families custom, so well done whoever in the management decided that this was their new strategy to increased profits. I have cancelled my Classic Hotels privilege card and shall in future visit Cotswold hotels who offer better value for money

Terrific country house hotel - the building is from the 15th century, with that beautiful honey-coloured Cotswold stone, in acres of gardens and fields. Even on an icy December day it was lovely walking all around. The hotel was very comfortable, and warm; we had an upgrade to a suite which was very welcomed, service was great, and the evening meal ( 2 courses included on our deal) was excellent. Although the building is old (no lift) it's been well maintained, the room was very good, and I'd disagree with the reviews saying it is in need of refurbishment. Nice bar, two lounges with log fires, and a large swimming pool which was almost too warm. Location is also very good, just a few minutes from Chipping Camden and Moreton-in-marsh, and 30 minutes to Stratford on Avon; we were able to see a play at the RSC in the evening and be back at the hotel by 11pm

Really enjoyed our two night break here. The receptionist had alerted me to the fact that renovations were being carried out when I made my booking but this did not affect our stay in any way. On arrival we were upgraded to a suite which was very comfortable and clean and we enjoyed the welcome wine, fruit and chocolates. The food was exceptional and the service was first class. We had both breakfast and an evening meal. All staff were courteous, friendly and extremely helpful. All in all a fantastic weekend and I would definitely recommend this hotel.

I stayed here for one night on the 29th of December. Upon approaching the hotel the grounds were nice, if a little untouched. Parking wasnt obvious to find, and we drove around to be sure we were in the correct place. The reception was cosy and in the old part of the hotel. The check in was friendly and we were shown to our room through a bit of a maze of corridors. I was in a deluxe king double with my girlfriend, my friends were in similar rooms. From the other rooms we could see, it was mostly the bed size that was increased. The room was spacious and well equipped, just bland and in need of some TLC. Cobwebs behind the radiators and in the corners of the bedroom ceiling and a drafty door onto a garden all needed some attention. Anyway, lets talk about the positives of the hotel. 1) dinner was included in the price (well a contribution towards it) and the food was really good. Everyone in my party was impressed, especially the two coeliacs in the party. 2) Drinks/cocktails were also good and the staff were very friendly and attentive. 3) The pool was quite large and was a good temperature and there were plenty of towels available. 4) There was a gym, but that looked like it had seen better days with some machines not working. 5) The shower was powerful and was commented on by the others, so mutst have carried through to the other rooms. 6) It was very quiet and very dark in the room at night..which can only be good when sleeping Not so great: 1) Fireplaces with no fires...at Xmas time? 2) No music and harsh lighting in the restaurant...what could have been a very inviting space was actually the opposite...Other tables could listen in on conversations (and did) and at times it was like a library. 3) The Gym, changing rooms and the bedrooms needed a refresh.... they were very dated and tatty. 4) Breakfast was nice but small.... We werent sure why the toast was brought out way before the rest of the food arrived and the coffee wasn't great. No Cappucinos, lattes or similar were available. My 'full english' was one poached egg and two rashers of bacon...(yes, I asked to remove the sausage and black pudding) but in its place I expected another egg and some more bacon? 5) Room cleanliness could be improved...if guests can see cobwebs why cant housekeeping? Overall this was a great place in a convenient location for the main Cotswold towns and I would be happy to stay again. The things that would improve things could easily be attained though.

I was unfortunate to spend a 3 day Christmas break at this hotel, and having stayed in quality hotels around the world this was a let down. Rooms were in clean modern outbuildings and mine appeared to be well appointed, but when I went to bed the mattress was thin and lumpy giving no support and the pillows were old hard compressed synthetics The public areas in the main house were small and the furnishings needed renovating ,this included the restaurant which was a long narrow room with no character, which perfectly matched the food which was basic comprising 3 courses from a very limited menu .My local restaurants at home are far superior. The staff were pleasant, but the management did not welcome us for the festive break at a drinks reception. The drinks were overpriced eg A double Tanqueray G&T was £16.75 ,and the wines were £40.+ for basic plonk, which matched the food. BEWARE the added service charge when settling your account. I refused to pay it and it was removed.

We stayed at the Charingworth Manor yesterday and I have to say it was a huge disappointment. Positives were - food was good and the hotel was clean and tidy. Negatives were hotel is extremely dated especially the swimming pool changing rooms. The worse thing above all was the suite that we had specially booked, this was a huge disappointment especially the shower which was unsafe to be honest. It was so small it was basically unusable. Whilst showering you either kept opening the door or knocking off the shower products off of the shower caddy. This type of bathroom is really not what you expect from a suite. The communication by the hotel was also poor. I telephoned from the room and was told this was the best room they had and further to that I specially emailed the manager through the receptions email address and unsurprisingly I’m still waiting for a reply 24 hours on. Be aware before you visit their photos are limited on their website. We won’t be returning. Certainly not good value for money in todays times.

Couples weekend break. This is a beautiful Cotswold Manor House hotel in a lovely setting. The hotel is only small, and whilst it’s not the most luxurious it is full of character. Staff and service was excellent from start to finish, always attentive and nothing was too much trouble. Dinner in the evening was very good, with a reasonable variety of options. Would not hesitate in recommending a stay here and can’t wait to re-visit during the summer.
