We entered the hotel around 1 pm and they were told that the room was not cleaned and they asked us to store our luggage and we could not check in until 4 pm. We checked in again around 5 pm and we were given a ba*****t with no table or chairs in the corner. There were only two 60cm wide small beds on both sides. I wondered why Ctrip would introduce such a hotel for sale online? Because we didn’t know how many nights we needed to stay (actually one night was enough), we paid for a 4-star hotel and stayed in a refugee ba*****t (not even one-star). We hope that Ctrip’s overseas hotel booking department will cancel such deceptive accommodation, otherwise A great vacation that leaves a bad impression!

Loved my 3 nights there with a gorgeous fjord view from the 2nd floor when there wasn't a huge cruise ship docked or anchored there. Easy 5 minute walk along the waterfront dock from the ferry. I thought the bathroom was very well designed to use a small space efficiently, and I liked the folding shower doors to get them out of the way when not in use. I had 1 delicious dinner there, but wasn't hungry to have others (having eaten in the town). Look at the the posted menu when you arrive, and make reservations. I agree with another review about the odd clothes-hanging area; some hangers with a few wall pegs or hooks on the wall might work better. The only thing I was uncomfortable with was the way the window curtains covered the wall heater when they were closed. Great place to relax and stay, enjoying excursions in the area. Large lounge with big screen TV. Glad to not have to listen to a TV in the next room. Wifi worked well. The town is a cruise ship stop for a reason, so is inundated when they are there. Prin**** should be prohibited from the obnoxious noise pollution honking of their theme when leaving. Would stay again.

We had a wonderful stay at Heimly Pensjonat and would happily return. The situation was superb, with wonderful views down the fjord. It was close enough to the centre of the village and walking routes, etc., to be convenient, but was far enough away to escape from crowds brought in on cruise liners. The staff were charming, always courteous and very helpful. The meals were excellent. Breakfast was good, with continental choices and also nicely cooked bacon and eggs. We had dinner both evenings. It was a set, three-course meal. All courses were beautifully cooked and presented, with appropriate quantities to eat. We also enjoyed trying locally brewed beers and cider with our supper. One really good feature was free tea and coffee in the sitting area throughout the day. We appreciated being able to sit there after walks with coffee while chatting or reading. The room and en suite facilities, while relatively small by hotel standards, were sufficiently large for our needs, comfortable, clean and well-maintained. We were surprised that our room was tidied for us each day. We had imagined that it might not be.

.We travel a lot and this was the absolute worst hotel I have ever stayed in. We paid $299 U S dollars for one night. The included meals were the worse we ate on our Trip. If you wanted something to drink other than tap water there was a charge. The rooms were very small. No TV, no hairdryer and no place to get ready in the morning. I ended up sitting on the floor. The bathroom was smaller than the bathrooms on our cruises. The shower is super tiny and has some type of folding doors. When you shower there is no hot water and a few minutes into the shower the bathroom floor is flooded with water, We had to use the towels to mop up the water. I had read the reviews before I booked and some of the reviews were good so I decided to give it a try. That was a big mistake on my part. I am writing this review to help others from making the same mistake that I did. I book the hotels for our group when we travel and I ended up apologizing the entire night for booking this hotel.

Many commenters liked the dinners. The 3 course dinner that we had was not worth it. Our stay. was on a weekday. The main ingredient was small potatoes. The first course was a salad with halved boiled potatoes, bacon bits, herbs & white sauce. The main course consisted of 2 meat balls, 4 boiled potatoes, a piece of carrot, green sauce (?pea ) at the bottom & red sauce on top. The meat balls obviously had something like bread crumbs to make them soft. The desert was whipped cream with raspberry sauce, caramel sauce & chocolate bits. We never had a dinner with so much potatoes/carbs. I surmise that few visitors would have chosen these items for their dinners on their own. There are more options locally than what we thought. The dock area has a bunch of food trucks serving a variety of foods. We would have gone with them or some other restaurant had we known. The breakfast was adequate for a small hotel; not much variety. It seemed that Fretheim, a larger hotel, has a fuller breakfast. Breakfast is an important part of visiting Norway. If we came back to Norway again, we would probably choose a large hotel over a small one of equivalent quality/level. The room is small. There is no closet to speak of; only a 6-inch space with hooks on the wall. That arrangement makes it difficult to hang coats/jackets to dry. The bathroom floor is flat; water got everywhere after shower. The sign pointing to the hotel is at the side of a regular road with no sidewalk. The safer way is to follow a board walk along the water to get to a point across from the hotel. We, like many other people, walked on the road when we first arrived.

During my 5 month European trek in 1972 a friend and I took the Flåm railroad from Myrdal to Flåm and stayed at Heimly. It was great 50 years ago, and I am please to see that their excellence continues today. The following is an excerpt from my dairy written during my stay. “We checked into the Heimly Pension. Our “hotel” had an outstanding view of the water, was very comfortable and cozy, the people were great, the rooms were spotless, the sheet crisp, and the air clean. Again from my notes, the dinner was excellent but expensive, $3 !!”

The Heimly Pensjonat is a very comfortable hotel for enjoying Flam. The hotel is away from the noise of the town and has beautiful views. It is small but very clean; the food is of good quality and feels very true to Norwegian home cooking. Staff is very helpful. It is not a grand chain hotel. Rather it is a place that feels very domestic. We met only one other US couple. Otherwise it is a place that caters to European travelers.

This hotel is perfunctory. You get a bed, breakfast, dinner and a hot shower. It’s not somewhere you’d want to relax. The people who work here are amiable. This is no way a luxury hotel. Just bog standard. The reason you come to this hotel is because it’s right next to the fjords. We barely spent any time in the hotel. The room was really tiny, the bed was smaller than a single bed and the bathroom was the smallest I’ve seen with the shower having collapsible doors. We actually found it quite claustrophobic. Dinner was interesting. We had no idea what we were eating. I had soup, a pork leg, mushy peas and boiled potatoes with cranberry sauce. For dessert, we had a fruit coulis with a yogurt and chocolate topping. They did cater for our dietary needs which was good.
