The Knaresborough Inn - the Inn Collection Group

We (two couples) booked this hotel because of reviews and location. We stayed in the annex rooms which were compact, but had everything you needed. Good shower, and a safe in the room. Clean and comfortable. Staff were all very friendly and helpful, could not fault them. Breakfast had a good selection, fruit, cereal, yoghurts, plus cooked items to choose from. We only ate in hotel one evening, meals OK but nothing to get excited about. Well kept cask ale too from local brewers. The hotel is only a short walk into town ( down main road or past the church ) where there are a number of pubs and other places to eat. It is also only a short walk to the railway station which we used to take the train into York so we did not have to worry about driving there and parking etc. Trains run approx every half hour to York or to Leeds. Hotel is also not far from the river with nice walks and views. Would certainly stay here again.

The hotel is in a great location in Knaresborough, close to both the town centre and the riverside. The staff are very welcoming and friendly. Unfortunately, there were several small irritations and disappointments which resulted in my overall 'average' rating. We booked a superior room which we required as a twin room but it was not made up as a twin room when we arrived. We were initially told that housekeeping staff were not available "at this time of day" to correct this but other staff offered to do it. We we went for a walk and the room had been set up correctly by the time we returned, although one of the single duvet covers had a hole in it! The room was clean apart from the carpet which I don't think had been thoroughly vacuumed because there were many small, hard bits of something (I suspect remains of food), especially around the chairs. The voile curtain at the window was faulty and could be drawn only halfway across the window. I am not sure that I would describe the room as 'superior' in respect of its facilities; perhaps it is superior in size only. Rooms are meant to be serviced daily but after our first full day out, our room had not been touched. I went downstairs to ask the reception/bar staff about it but they did not know why it had been missed and offered me the items needed to top up our tea/coffee supplies, plus a voucher for one free drink from the bar by way of apology. We had two breakfasts and two dinners at the hotel. Breakfast is buffet-style and there was a good choice of hot and cold options. I booked a table for dinner on both nights, the second of which was for four people as friends were joining us. However, staff could not find my booking on the second night, which was quite embarrassing when we had friends with us! Fortunately, there was a table available even though the restaurant was quite busy. The dinner menu is varied but not many choices are available for non meat-eaters.

The Knaresborough Inn worked very well for us. It was close to the train station and allowed easy access via train to York and Harrogate. The room was very good, well presented and clean and tidy. The staff were friendly and very attentive to us during our stay. We did have an issue with the access to our room on arrival, not the room its self, which was good, but rather the access which was via very steep and narrow steps. We asked for a change of room with better and safer access (due to an mobility issue) and it was dealt with quickly and an alternative room arranged for us without any fuss. Breakfast was very good each morning with a good range of options from cooked to continental. The evening menu was a bit limited, but what was available was of a good standard. There are also local restaurants in the village that offered a range of options. If we were in the area in the future we would be happy to return to stay at the Knaresborough Inn. Overall we would recommend this Inn as a good place to stay.

Great central hotel, our room was above the restaurant which was really noisy until midnight and then again from 630 am. Room was small but clean. Hotel nice but drink prices expensive. Good breakfast selection on offer. The town is lovely especially by the river. I would stay again just not in the rooms above the restaurant.

We booked this hotel as it was in a good location for a couple of days away. We stayed in an annex room which was comfortable, clean and quiet. It was cold when we first checked in so I put the heating on. It got warm even too hot really quickly we then found we couldn't get it cooler again. We are in the restaurant for dinner and breakfast. Everyone was welcoming and helpful and we enjoyed our stay.

Located in a location within walking distance of Mother Shipton’s Cave, the viaduct and the Castle. Hotel is very well presented and maintained throughout. The bar, eating area is very quirky, food is excellent. We have just eaten a very delicious Sunday roast each and we ate every bit. All our meals have been tasty and well presented.Sara has been very friendly and helpful throughout our stay, and obviously enjoys her role as this shines through in her hospitality skills. We chose a deluxe double room and were not disappointed. Everywhere is spotlessly clean and we loved the decor. It was great to see Ian one of the managers on the shop floor supporting his staff and interacting with his guests. Staff genuinely want their guests to have an enjoyable experience and go beyond with their hospitality skills. Highly recommend.

Fantastic stay at The Knaresborough Inn. Ben went above and beyond to help me when I had a slight issue with my room. Emily & Cerys could not do enough to ensure my stay was anything but exceptional! This is my second time here whilst visiting family and I can’t wait for my third visit! If management read this, please express my sincere thanks to the whole team but especially Ben, Emily & Cerys!

Great location, perfect for our family get together and friends reunion. The staff were great, good service and lots of cheerful banter.

We were allocated a disabled room, although we certainly didn’t book this, a room designated for disabled is not suitable for able bodied, especially in the bathroom where sinks etc are at the wrong height. The bathroom was missing a “plug” in the sink, which meant you constantly ran water. Evening meal was good, when it eventually arrived and disappointed with buffet breakfast.
