Insotel Club Maryland

Just returned from a beautiful week away in the much needed ☀️ staying at Club Maryland, Formentera is a very beautiful exclusive Island, perfect for beach lovers, seas have been likened to the Maldives/Caribbean. Insotel Club Maryland provides a very good value holiday in a beautiful village like location, you can hire a bike (with a €10 refundable deposit) and bus service to all the top spots on the Island just outside the hotel reception and for free! We were in a bottom level room in 115 by the Splash pool and entertainment tent, where a show followed by music was on until 11:30 We loved to walk down through the complex for an early morning swim in the crystal clear sea,followed by a great choice of breakfast at the restaurant overlooking the main pool and sea, from 8am. Then back to the top pool area which was lovely and quiet for a 10am cappuccino and a swim. Lunch was available at the main restaurant, but we would have the small buffet of salad chips rice burgers/chicken up at the splash pool! Main pool was busy but plenty of loungers usually early reservations made with towels! But not question and runs to beds like some all inclusive hotels in the main weeks! Burgers hotdogs pizzas crisps and ice creams available at both pools till 6pm. With main evening meals at the restaurant, we would wait in a short queue to eat outside ( we ate late 9pm) but plenty of seating inside, great pasta, seafood and salads, and branded spirits at the bars. There is a lot of walking but we needed it to work the food and drink off! The rooms were traditionally basic but extremely clean…Beds and rooms cleaned very well every morning! It was humid and hot the end of July early August and the rooms were very warm without air-con, but the environmental impact that would cause to install and the price increase would turn this into a premium complex which would just out price more people away from the Island. Staff extremely hardworking. Immaculate hotel. Overall a little gem of a base for beach/Island/Chill seekers that don’t mind a fan to keep you cool in peak season.

Location, Food, Staff, Pool, Beach all really lovely but personally the fact that there's no air con in the rooms only fans so we struggled to sleep put a dampner on the whole holiday. The rooms were very dated. Beds very hard. I imagine going in cooler weather would be a different experience. Weather was around 30 degrees when we went. For the price we paid (around £800 per person for a week via Tui) I would expect air con as standard. Disappointing.

The club Maryland is In a fantastic location downsides are the rooms are a little tired and dated but……they are clean and maids attend daily we only need somewhere to sleep after all the staff are amazing the food is scrumptious and very varied and freashly cooked but what makes this holiday for us is the animation team a massive shout out to francesco and his very talented and hard working team who put on shows and look after the little ones with love fun and total attention so we’ll done Maryland animation team you are truly the best we have ever come across see you next year xxxxxx

Wonderful staff throughout the whole site. Great location right next to the beach. The accommodation is laid out really well amongst the flora and fauna with lots of pine trees as well. Very relaxed atmosphere and good entertainment if you are that way inclined.

We arrived at Maryland on the 18th September.  At the reception we were given a room key and the receptionist pointed us in the direction of the room. I asked if the room was on a high floor in a quiet area as we had requested. He shrugged and said that there were no other rooms available. My wife and I struggled with 2 suitcases and hand luggage as he didn't request help for us or mention that trolleys were available. We arrived at the room and, on opening the door, we knew we couldn't stay in that room., It was dark, shabby and directly overlooked by other rooms which surrounded it. We went back to reception and asked to be allocated another room. The same receptionist just said, “there aren't any other rooms available”. I said if that's the case we won't be staying here.  A second receptionist stepped in and asked how long we were staying at the hotel. “Well depending on our room either one night or nine nights” He looked at the screen and said that there were other rooms available. He took us to a second room which although still shabby was better than the previous room as at least we now had a view across the “gardens” and were on a high floor as requested. He then kindly helped with our luggage. A s we had missed lunch due to our late arrival due to a delayed take off once again by TUI, we decided to go to the pool bar and have a bar snack which we very much needed. Later we went down to dinner. The one buffet restaurant was fine, a bit brightly lit inside for us but outside was quite nice as it overlooked the pool and beyond that the beach and sea. The selection of food was good, a bit repetitive but I think that's normal for all-inclusive. After dinner and a few drinks at the bar, we retired to our room. This is when it all went downhill. The mattresses were like sleeping on a rock. We got very little sleep and got up aching all over. As one German gentleman said to us “ the floor is softer”. Everyone we spoke to brought up the hardness of the mattresses. The rooms have a lounge with an L-shaped sofa, which converts to a bed. So many people said that they had moved into the lounge as this was softer. We didn't find it much softer though. I went to reception and asked if there was anything they could do, either change the mattresses on our twin beds or provide two mattress toppers. I was told to ask housekeeping the next morning. So after another sleepless night, I asked the housekeeper if she could help. She said, “Yes I'll see what can be done”. We went down to the pool to catch up on some sleep on the much softer pool loungers. We went back to our room later in the afternoon. Excitedly we felt our mattresses. They were even harder as the replacement mattresses were now newer! So if you are either a monk or a nun and decide that you need to do some penance for some sin or whatever I can recommend you book the Club Maryland. Perfect, peaceful holiday and the family had a lot of fun, a destination to be repeated. Friendly and helpful people, the hotel is very presentable. The distribution of the internet is perfect for resting and just thinking about ugly things. Congratulations and keep going.

This was my second time at the Insotel Mar y land. Despite the rooms (which are a bit small) , everything else in the hotel is top: the food, the bars, the entertainers (really good and very nice kids), the pools,... on top, the beach just in front is also top-notch. I really think I will come back for a 3rd round as my kids also love it. One more thing, the limited wifi is simply great to get out of all the "connected" world Thank you to all the Insotel staff !
