Very Conflcted... We have visiseted Balbirnie Hotel, many times over the last several years, mostly dining (maybe once every 8/12 weeks, ) occasionally overnight staying with family, even dining their with the whole family on Chris**as Day ( 16 of us ish) ... now can I say .. food is good, service generally very good, pricing .. definitely worth the money (generally) So what's the issue... We were gifted a voucher for overnight accommodation, breakfast and dinner from close friends, unfortunately my wife is now going though some intrusive medical trea**ents, and we were unable to accommodate the vouchers deadlines.. when we contacted the hotel... (well within deadlines) absolutely no empathy, no understanding... basically told .. be there on lose it.. we could not accommodate.. so lost it since this we have been contacted by a member of the Scottish Press, specifically on this ... after discussing, we decided not to comment... We've had a lot of good experiences at the hotel, weddings, dinners, lunches and occasionally overnights, but sorry, we'll not be back

I booked the hotel for a night because we have business in Glenrothes on the 8th May. I checked Trip Advisor to make sure everything seemed fine and was astonished to see most of the recent reviews are pointing out the new parking charges. I emailed the hotel thinking surely they aren’t charging residents when they have a large out of town car park to be told in the reply email that yes, indeed they do charge for parking!! I cancelled the booking.

We had our Wedding Day at Balbirnie House in April 2024 and it was better than we ever imagined. Leah and the team were so helpful both in the run up to the wedding and on our wedding day. The Balbirnie team sorted all of the finer details, ensuring that our tables were laid as requested and all of the details were perfect. The food was amazing and the best wedding meal we have had. Everything ran so smoothly and everyone had the most amazing day! We would highly recommend having your wedding or special event at Balbirnie House!

Went for afternoon tea which was nice, after receiving a voucher as a gift. Discovered they’ve now started charging for the luxury of parking at their business! Been here a number of times as we’re local, and always found that the he parking isn’t great, stone chip car parks which are often dotted with puddles, and a distance away from the entrance. This is all set within estate grounds so it’s not like it’s being used by city centre users. If it was deterrent for people using the park etc then should have the charge waived if you’re using the facilities.

At a fair I won a voucher for afternoon tea. Unfortunately did not see signs for parking. Recieved a parking ticket for £60 on 7th March. I phoned the hotel to discuss this but they were most unhelpful. I definitely won't be going back here as I never would have imagined that a hotel of its so called standard would expect guests to pay for parking. We have been here on a number of occasions in the past and would have expected that the least the hotel could have done was alert customers to new charges. I am now being bullied into paying these charges and it has been increased to £160 all this for winning a free afternoon tea. Writing on behalf of Marie Macpherson.

My daughter and son in law Sally and Carl had the privilege to have their wedding in beautiful stunning Balbirnie on 2 April. Angela and Leah and all other members of staff were exceptional. Every detail was planned and sorted. All we had to do was relax and take in the splendour. Food was luxurious and delicious. It’s easy to understand why Balbirnie wins so many awards. Worth every penny and more affordable than you might think. Can’t thank the Hotel enough. Out of this world experience.

Booked an afternoon tea for a birthday treat, however, we were absolutely shocked to find out that you now have parking charges to dine in the hotel. Utter nonsence considering you are paying them money for the food and drinks. The staff on arrival were quite rude when we queried the parking charge - which ruined the whole experience. The afternoon tea was average - similar price to other 5 star establishments but without the quality. I did email the hotel noting my concerns, however, they have not bothered to reply to me. We will not be returning any time soon - definately not the same as it was years ago.

We have stayed at the balbirnie a few times over the years and have always enjoyed the experience. However on this trip we were disappointed by the hidden extras. We had booked bed , breakfast and evening meal and we were aware it was only 2 course evening meal. We ordered dessert which we knew would be extra however were surprised at the 10% service charge on the total meal price. Also £10 to park in their own extensive grounds when there is no other travel option . I would rather have any unavoidable extras like these to be in the up front cost . Room was very nice and food excellent

We arrived with a party of 25 to celebrate a special birthday. There wasn't one person who didn't complain amongst us about PARKING CHARGES! I mean REALLY? Why? Absolutely ridiculous. Several 'were' regular visitors but no more. My husband is disabled and we found it hard to get a spot near the reception...we got the only space left. Beats me why a hotel would charge their customers and overnight guests parking charges, I mean we're not in London after all. We won't be back out of pure principal. I hope Balbirnie is prepared for lots of complaints and poor reviews because of this. Take heid and listen to your customers Balbirnie.
