La Chaumière

Quiet, peaceful, well foreseen. Nicely situated at the beach, it is an actual waterfront hotel. A nice park for the kids to run and play: petanque, tennis, swimming pool, swings. Nice views of the coast. Friendly staff in the restaurant and the hotel.

Had 2 dinners at La Chaumiere during our stay at the hotel. One outside as the sun set down over the sea (beau-ti-ful) and one inside when the rain forced us in (equally delightful). The setting is superb. beautiful furnishing, loads of space. Every table has a view. The staff was pleasant and accommodating. The flavors were well-balanced and thoughtfully combined. From start to finish, the meal was a perfect blend of taste and aesthetics. My highlight was the Raviole crabe et langoustine. I'd say, the main dishes are on the small side. But if you choose a 3-course meal, it's plenty. In general, slightly overpriced but I guess you pay for the beautiful setting. €175 for 2, 3-course, with drinks and aperitif.

This wonderful hotel is situated in a marvelous location. It has a wonderful view on the estuary (shame about the industrial zone across the water). The hotel offers a direct access to the beach which ensures great strolls with your dog. The rooms are in an old farm house typical of the area. The hotel is not far from the centre of Honfleur (by car!), and beautiful villages and seaside towns such as Deauville and Houlgate are near. The great city of Caen is only 80 kilometers further on. The hotel has a great restaurant. The rooms do not have a fridge, and the toilet and bathroom are on opposite sides of the bed which makes handwashing during the night a nuisance. Especially since all lights are automatically switched on by movement. The service is great and the staff is very friendly. The breakfast is a disaster. Every morning the coffee was luke warm. A poor set of jams and some fruit are offered. But a cheese/meat board (4 very small pieces of cheese and two meagre slices of meat cost an extra 14 (!) Euros. It is a disgrace. The sauna costs extra as well. Although the stay was great, one feels a little cheated. Not very chique for a hotel that boasts 4 stars.

We had a wonderful stay at La Caumiere with our daughter and two dogs. The Hotel is a great place with spectecular view on sea, direct access to the beach. Our two dogs felt happy and very welcomed. The breakfast was delicious with fruits, juices, eggs and if needed it was possible to order cheese and ham. We had a great time at La Chaumiere and will come back next visiting the Normandy.

Upon arrival, restaurant was closed, Breakfast in the morning was very poor & three cats were sitting between the buffet.... The charm of the hotel is gone since our last visit some years ago... The entrance of the hotel is renewed, which is very attractive, but the service in the hotel is not !
