"February 2026, Hokkaido – The Life I've Always Dreamed Of in Eastern Hokkaido! It's been six years since my last visit to Hokkaido, and I'm finally back in my favorite place, embarking on a long-awaited journey to Eastern Hokkaido! On the first day, we decided to head straight to Kushiro and check into the Kushiro Prince Hotel for convenience with our后续 itinerary. It was about a 10-minute walk from JR Kushiro Station to the hotel with our luggage. The main issue was the heavy snow and ice on the roads. We weren't wearing ice cleats, so we had to walk very carefully. The Kushiro Prince Hotel clearly has an older, traditional style, and the facilities are quite dated. Check-in was quick, and there wasn't much interaction with the front desk, perhaps due to a language barrier? However, they did try their best to answer any questions we had. We had a standard twin room; it wasn't large, but big enough for two large suitcases. There was no separate wet and dry area in the bathroom, likely due to space constraints. I'm not sure why there was no complimentary bottled water. The hotel's main advantage is its convenient location. The Akan Bus stop is right outside the hotel to the right. Everyone was lining up early. We checked out about 10 minutes beforehand, and since we didn't want to wait outside in the cold, we ended up at the back of the line. Kushiro is the starting point of this Eastern Hokkaido trip. Our packed itinerary is about to begin, and I'm a little excited and a little nervous!"

"Near Lawson 3 minites and fishermans wharf 4 minutes walk. 20 minutes walk from Kushiro Train Station. Good view if your room is facing the seaport where fishing boats park specially at night."

If you walk right for about 10 minutes, there's a large supermarket. Overall, it's very convenient. The breakfast is abundant and varied, with salmon, tempura, and beef bowls every day, plus fruits like mango and grapefruit. The room is a bit small, but that's standard for Japan. The public bath isn't large, with a small soaking tub and five shower stalls."

"The bus stops right in front of the hotel when returning to Kushiro from Lake Akan. It is very convenient. There are izakaya ramen shops and convenience stores nearby. The breakfast is rich and the service is also very good. It is not far from the JR station."

"Although it's not a hot spring hotel, the bathrooms in the hotel rooms are very thoughtfully designed. There's a variety of bath salts to choose from in the lobby, followed by a larger bathtub with a faucet next to it, just like in a hot spring, so you can wash yourself clean before soaking in the tub. Just across the bridge from the hotel is Fisherman's Wharf and Shore Fireplace. Breakfast is delicious with three options, and I highly recommend it."

I booked a 17 sqm room, but upon arrival, the hotel said it wasn't available and offered a 13-15 sqm room instead, with no refund for the downgrade – absolutely unheard of! I've only ever known hotels to offer free upgrades when the booked room isn't available, never a downgrade without a refund. I arrived at 12 PM and, after being told my booked room was unavailable, I contacted Trip.com. I was met by 'Xiao Hong,' the most unhelpful customer service agent I've ever encountered. Despite calling multiple times over 5 hours, there was no feedback, and she repeatedly delayed responding, costing me dozens of yuan in call fees. Frustrated, I requested a new agent, and the issue was resolved by a supervisor in less than 15 minutes, finally demonstrating the level of service I expect from Trip.com. As a 16-year Trip.com Diamond member, I choose to book through them over other OTA platforms like ** (removed specific OTA name), even paying a bit more, precisely because of their customer service's ability to handle emergencies. This experience was truly disappointing, though I'm glad the customer service supervisor maintained the usual standard."

"February 2026, Eastern Hokkaido – The Life I Dream Of~ We arrived at Akan Lake Onsen Town around 3 PM via the White Bus. Since La Vista is a bit further out, the White Bus drops off guests staying there at the Akan Lake Bus Center, from where guests then take the hotel shuttle. Among our fellow passengers, some had pre-arranged a 3:30 PM shuttle via email with the hotel, but despite craning their necks, the shuttle was nowhere in sight. So I called them, and they said it would be there in 5 minutes. That basically confirmed it for me: the La Vista shuttle won't come unless you call them… because the hotel is only a 5-minute drive from the bus center. The small van was completely full, and even though the road was covered in ice and snow, the driver's skills were quick, accurate, and steady, getting us to the hotel swiftly. Check-in was a bit slow, but I wasn't in a rush. I took my time to admire the floor-to-ceiling windows and the view outside – a lake, trees, snow, and small animals, all quiet and beautiful. The lobby, though not large, was decorated warmly and comfortably. After 5 PM, they offer complimentary drinks and snacks here. Our room was spacious with an amazing view. Sitting quietly by the window, watching the snowflakes fall, I wished time would slow down even more. The atmosphere at La Vista is truly romantic~ The bathroom also offered direct views of the outside scenery. The room's facilities, layout, and amenities were all excellent, with comfortable colors and a novel, super spacious style. La Vista has three private onsen baths, no reservations needed – you can just enter if it's not occupied. The Free Lounge offers a variety of complimentary beverages. Perhaps it's because La Vista is a bit more secluded that it can create such a wonderful environment and ambiance. For those who haven't booked the buffet, make sure to stock up on food in advance, as it's pretty much wilderness around here. Aside from a slight complaint about the shuttle, I was very satisfied with the hotel's facilities and environment. If I have the chance, I'd love to spend 2-3 days here immersing myself in it – it would surely help me forget a lot of worries."
