Positive:
- The hotel is clean and centrally located.
- It has some flair of the 70s (including the rooms).
Negative:
- Although you pay an extra energy fee, warm water for a shower was not available before 06:30.
- Checkout at the evening before leaving took me 20 minutes. That was the time the receptionist needed to print the bill correctly.
- Although there is a 24 h service, when leaving early morning, I had to run and search the receptionist to unlock the main entrance. I nearly missed my train.

My wife and I spent two nights at the hotel while attending a conference. Our room was elegant and comfortable (and equipped with a great balcony) and the staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel had inexpensive paid parking that allows you to come and go at your convenience. Next time I am in Jena, I will definitely stay here again.

Essen im Restaurant zwar sehr gut, aber Heizkörper im Restaurant auf Stufe 1. Und das zum wiederholten Male. Dadurch kalte Räume und ungemütlich. Wenn ich zu zweit für knapp 100 Euro essen gehe, habe ich keine Lust zu frieren und danach durchgefroren nach Hause zu kommen.

Die Rezeption, besetzt von oft wechselndem Personal, war teilweise unfreundlich und wenig gastfreundlich. Selbst als Hotelgast mit monatelanger Vorausbuchung hatte man keine Möglichkeit im Hotel zu Abend zu Essen.

Vorab, wir haben den schwarzen Bären nie von Innen gesehen und werden wir aufgrund des Verhaltens des Hauses auch niemals. Wir haben ein Zimmer für eine Nacht mit zwei Hunden gebucht. Auf der Anbieterseite von *********** war dieses Hotel beim Thema Haustiere mit: "Haustiere erlaubt, es können Zusatzgebühren anfallen" vermerkt. Daraufhin haben wir gebucht und in den Kommentar nochmal geschrieben, dass wir mit Hunden anreisen werden. Wohl gemerkt, die Möglichkeit das Hotel noch einmal zu stornieren war egal bei welchem Zimmer in diesem Hause unmöglich. Bereits wenige Minuten nach der Buchung dann eine Nachricht vom Hotel, dass man uns nicht aufnehmen könne, da keine geeigneten Zimmer für Hunde an diesem Tag zur Verfügung stünden. Dies ist aus unserer Sicht ein nicht einhalten des geschlossenen Vertrages von Seiten der Unterkunft, beziehungsweise auch von ***********. Lange Rede kurze Sinn, es folgten durchaus unangebrachte Nachrichten und Vorschläge seitens des Hotels, unter anderem "für 50€ mehr dürften wir dann doch kommen" und "wenn sie das nicht annehmen, dann ist die Sache für uns erledigt, da im Angebot stand Hunde auf Anfrage". Von Seiten *********** kam ebenfalls keine Hilfe, sondern es wurde sich gegenseitig die Verantwortung zugeschoben. Viel Spaß mit unserem Geld, knapp 82€ zum Fenster rausgeworfen, ohne Eigenverschulden. Mal sehen, was mein Anwalt dazu sagt.
