We stayed at Avani Kalutara for 7 nights literally the week before monsoons started, it was a quiet time of year for the hotel so there wasn’t many guests just a handful of us. Whilst this made the atmosphere quieter, we were well and truly looked after and it made for a very peaceful stay for us which was great. I liked the fact that the hotel thought about waste and switched us to a la carte instead of a buffet to reduce on food waste which made complete sense when we were only seeing maybe 6 people a night. The food that came out was excellent restaurant quality food and was good portions and flavours. I would recommend the Sri Lankan curry and rice from the menu as that was amazing! We also were invited to share breakfast and one night dinner with the 5 start sister hotel anantara and the food was served in a buffet style but with added extras like cook to order etc and was lovely, the breakfast there was particularly lovely and I looked forward to going after the gym to fill up The gym both at avani and at anantara were great, air conditioned lots of equipment and water and towels provided . The service from the staff at both hotels was impeccable, they really looked after us and even the craftspeople at the anantara were lovely chatting with us in the morning and showing us the amazing work they have done. The artist Rathna was such a lovely lady and had the most amazing paintings, it was a joy to see her in the mornings and have a chat as she really brightened up our day :) Overall I would definitely recommend this hotel or the sister hotel as the location was excellent, the rooms lovely and most of all the service was exceptional. Thank you for an amazing stay we hope to come back soon!
