We stayed two nights on our round trip in this little paradise. We booked two of the extremely spacious bungalows with an amazing view of Kandy. Due to the current situation we were the only guests in the hotel. The hotel is run by two families and has only 5 rooms (main building and bungalows) - all very exclusive and informal. We got to know one of the owners and he told us the story of the house. The villa originally belonged to a Swedish wildlife photographer. He worked in India but was always on holiday in his villa in Kandy. He planted all the trees in the hotel garden himself. When he died in 1986, his son took over the house but sold it to the two families in 1988. And since 2014 it is a hotel. One of the bungalows used to be his office - just super exciting when a hotel has such a great history. And the owners are so nice and friendly and share the history with the guests. We had breakfast and dinner at the hotel - it was great! Everything! Super tasty, super fresh and the service was second to none. All wishes were read from our eyes before you could even express them. The quality of the food and the coffee were excellent. What we found particularly great: All groceries were only bought and prepared to order, so that nothing is in stock unnecessarily - very sustainable! We were impressed! The infinity pool overlooking Kandy is of course the highlight - it was only opened 2 years ago. And is just gorgeous. Super clean and great temperature. Mango shakes and sandwiches were delivered directly to the pool to order. All in all, the two days were perfect! The only thing you might need to know is that the hotel didn't have a generator at the time of our trip - but we had a very nice candlelit dinner during the usual power cuts in the evening. But there could really be worse things than a candlelit dinner outdoors. :) And the water pressure in the shower could be better - mosquito nets would also be useful. But that's complaining on a high level. :)
