Queen's Hotel Kandy - 160 Years of Heritage & Luxury ★★★★★

📍 DS Senanayake Veediya, Kandy

"The hotel itself is very centrally located. The building exudes a historic charm that makes it special. The only downside: the bathrooms are in need of renovation. But the best thing is the staff. Everyone is very attentive. We had forgotten our passports in the hotel safe and were quite distressed. We contacted the hotel, and Kuma helped us immediately. He looked at the documents right away and offered to take everything to our next accommodation by taxi. The whole process was very professional. He even made a list of all the forgotten items and stayed in touch with us until we had everything back. We would like to thank Kuma again most sincerely."

📍 89, 10 Lady Gordon's Dr, Kandy

"This hotel would have been magnificent when first built. It still is very impressive but starting to show signs of wear. The service is definitely 5 stars and the food and drinks were great. A big shout out to Dhonmasiri (apologies if name is not spelt correctly) in the Sky bar. He was run off his feet but managed to serve our group and others with excellent service and a smile."

📍 Kundasale, Kandy

"This hotel is one of the best in the area, and they even offer breakfast and dinner, which we unfortunately didn't know about beforehand. The breakfast was plentiful, the mountain views were stunning, and it's not far from Kandy. Overall, a very comfortable stay."

"We come here regularly for the monthly karaoke nights, which are always a ton of fun - or to spend some time in the tranquil courtyard. An absolutely lovely place. Highly recommended if you're looking for a respite away from the busy-ness of Kandy without traveling far into the hills!"

"Great location, incredibly beautiful views of the lake and city. We were provided with a hairdryer upon request for a fee. Everything was great, the only downside was the one outlet, and it didn't work well. Otherwise, everything was great! I recommend it!"

"What's good: The hotel is secluded, beautifully maintained grounds, a wonderful view from the top, plenty of aesthetically pleasing photo spots, and a relatively well-appointed room. What's bad: Since the hotel is located at an altitude, unfortunately, we didn't get to experience the joys of the pool (after being caught in the eye of a cyclone on the way, we would have been happy to swim and warm up in the warm water, but the water in the pool was cold; this is a major drawback given that swimming is one of the main activities/entertainments on the property). The hotel restaurant could use some training for its chefs: when you're hungry, as we were, of course, any food seems delicious, but ours, alas, was not. Our selection wasn't particularly sophisticated, but rather poorly prepared: Mushroom cappuccino, garlic prawns, chicken biriyani, two lion beers. The mushroom soup was bland, with no hint of mushrooms, the shrimp were severely overcooked, and I practically cried when I ate the chicken, even though I asked the waiter "no spicy, please." Not only was the chicken so dry it tasted more like snakeskin, but the spices burned my mouth. Perhaps we were just "lucky" with the food, but unfortunately, dinner for less than 11,000 Sri Lankan rupees wasn't impressive. Breakfast, however, was decent (omelet, beans, some meat, grilled vegetables, fruit, pastries, fruit shake, water). The staff was polite, and everyone tried their best, both at the hotel and in the restaurant. Yes, the road to the hotel isn't for the faint of heart: the road is poorly paved in places, and there's a steep switchback uphill. But if you're a seasoned hiker and even a season-long biker like us, the road to the hotel won't be too daunting. Recommendations for the hotel: We were missing a clothes dryer. For those who use the pool or get caught in heavy rain, this is a necessary item. Please provide a replacement."

"I was very upset my stay had to be pulled out after 2 days for only reason that the accommodation was not safe to reach from kany or outside , firstly the road was steep and the tuk tuk abd small cars struggled to climb safely, the route which Google directed was not straight forward, we almost got killed in a tuk tuk way up and thus scared us abd we pulled off, never safe to go late night after 6pm. The food abd the views were amazing no questions about the service etc but thus all overrules from safety aspect, the accommodation should clearly mention that in there advertisement saying its only suitable for ppl who like adventures and take risk hiking, not advisable for stays for family with young children or old ppl. There was a couple from Oz befire us they got terrified and canceled the stay and complained and left immediately but the manager would not appreciate how dangerous and terrifying it would be for ppl reaching the place remotely. I wouldn't advise this place purely because of safety accesing it. I will attach some pictures to give you more understanding. I had to report to trip. Com to get back my booking charges and book an other safe hotel. This ended up disaster but I'm glad I retired back on one peice. The only access road to this property is extremely steep and currently affected by damage from flooding. Even local drivers have advised that it is unsafe to use. This creates a serious risk of being stranded or injured and makes it unsafe to continue staying at this property. The hotel’s refusal does not override Trip.com’s duty of care to guests. Continuing to house guests where access is affected by landslides and flooding is unsafe. Please escalate this as a safety and misrepresentation case immediately . This situation constitutes a material misrepresentation of the accommodation. Trip.com’s platform standards require accurate property descriptions and reasonable usability. The unsafe access road was not disclosed at the time of booking, despite being a known and ongoing issue, as evidenced by a public review dated 26 January 2026 confirming that another couple also left early for the same reason. As the property cannot be safely accessed, the accommodation is unfit for purpose and cannot be used as booked. Under Trip.com’s service standards and applicable consumer protection principles, this warrants an immediate full refund."

Queen's Hotel Kandy - 160 Years of Heritage & Luxury ★★★★★
"Excellent location, right next to the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic and Kandy Lake. I even got a complimentary upgrade to a junior suite, which was a nice touch! However, the shower was quite old, and the soundproofing was really poor; I could hear conversations from next door. Breakfast also needs improvement."

"The hotel is located in the beautiful countryside. The staff was excellent, and the room was clean and comfortable. I liked Ilon's entrance. They asked me about allergies, and the next day, they made sure I was well taken care of during breakfast. I’d stay there again."
