Blue Aegean Hotel & Suites

The landlady opened the entrance door and I felt my heart plummet unto my underwear! WHAT GAVE ME the CONIPTION IS the 22 STAIR ACCESS THE TOP 14 OF WHICH ARE ON A HALF SPIRAL. We are not young - my husband is in his 8th decade....We had to carry our 2 small suitcases up these steps to get to our room. When we entered the room it was clean and the bed linen was fresh. The veranda over the street is so small that if you hang up a wet garment it drips on the table. The kitchenette that you see in the picture is large, underequipped and is built like that instead of a decent bathroom that could be much more user friendly. In the room : twin beds, wardrobe bedside tables and minimal dressing table but no room to sit at it. Be careful bending over the sink to clean your teeth not to hit your head on the shelf. We shortened our stay by 4 days. AC USE 4 EXTRA EURO/DAY!!!!!

We only stayed two nights, but will definitely book to stay again. Room had a side sea view overlooking Marias Golden Beach restaurant. Lovely studio, very well equipped with cutlery, coffee maker, fridge, electric hob, washing line and pegs. On the landing are an iron, hairdryer, travel kettle, and books to borrow if needed. Good wi-fi (full strength as I write). Owners live in Heraklion so let them know expected arrival time. When meeting owner to pay and register next morning we were offered a very smooth raki, and sweeties! The rooms are not easily identifiable, as they are above a closed shop, but just find Marias Golden Beach restaurant and they are just opposite the indoor part of the restaurant.

Well what can we say, had a fantastic time, room was nice number 14, with a terrace, opposite bar and pool. Food was really good, always found something tasty, loads of gluten-free options, more than I've experienced elsewhere! Bed was comfy, aircon a blessing! Loads of sun loungers around pool ! The main assett for this hotel is the staff ! Shout out to all the cleaners who work so hard, unsung heroes ! Also Eva, Maria and Georgio, the hotel wouldn't be the same without you ! Also Frank the night porter, lovely to chat with you! Stef and Marianne too ! You are all a credit to the Blue Aegean ! Thank you Georgio, who came to give us farewell cuddle when waiting on our transfer home ! It was like leaving family behind ! We had a ball at The Central Bar, with @jim Brown on the Mondays ! Also The Annfield Bar, where my husband could catch up with his football on TV ! We miss you ! Don't hesitate to book this hotel if you are looking for a laid back holiday 😎

Love this hotel. The food was so good and the staff (especially Maria) are so kind and friendly. Our room was clean and comfortable. It’s close to the beach, bars and restaurants in Gouves but it’s a quiet place which I loved. The cocktails were delicious too.

Absolutely adore this place! we arrived early hours and Frank was there to greet us, he gave us a plate of cold food and a drink. The staff were amazing and so so friendly, if you needed anything they were more than happy to help. The bar staff especially Eva, Gostas, Stef and Yorgos were fantastic and always tried to make your experience personal, cracking jokes and getting to know everyone. They always had a smile on their face! We also met the owner who was absolutely lovely and so welcoming. The rooms were great, they were made up every day, fresh towels and bedding, they even put my little teddy up on the pillow neatly and set my pyjamas out on the bed! I thought this was lovely. Both pool areas were great, the main pool was where the families normally were, although the kids were all really well behaved and this was Never a problem, me and my boyfriend spent most of the time at this pool and loved it. There's a more private, quieter pool across the road which anyone can use but is really quiet and would be better for those who prefer to sit and read by the pool. There was plenty of sun beds and seating, people often reserved beds with towels, however they do have a policy on this so if you let the staff know that there hadn't been anyone there for a reasonable amount of time, they would sort it out for you. if you do struggle to get sun beds (this is really unlikely), the staff are happy to go get you some from the other pool area. The food was also amazing, me and my boyfriend really enjoyed. we found there was quite a variety of foods and always something you could eat. Even the chef would make the effort to speak to everyone and was also so friendly. They do great entertainment in the evenings and they get the kids up dancing too! It's also in a lovely location, just across the road from a beach, there's 3 supermarkets on the road, one just across the road from the hotel, there are also many restaurants around and places to book boat trips and days out etc. We did two boat trips and a water park and they were great! would really recommend the boat trip with the company yachters, 80 euro for a 6 hour trip on a yacht with 8 people, food and drinks included and snorkelling and swimming on two different beaches. (for couples)

Lovely hotel with brilliant staff. Our room was a little dated but clean and comfortable. The pool area was nice with ample sunbeds. The food was lovely with plenty of choice and well cooked, the only complaint was it was never warm enough but there was a microwave if needed. Disappointed there were no cocktails on the all inclusive and even the ones you pay for in my opinion were not worth the money. The area outside the hotel is fairly quite but flat so made easy walking. If you go out of the hotel to the main road turn left and keep walking you come to a small selection of tavernas and shops. Overall had a great 2 week stay and would recommend for a quiet holiday.
