Silversand Resort offers a wonderful beachfront experience with an unbeatable location right on Ao Phai Beach. While only a few rooms are directly sea-facing, we stayed in a garden view room that was still well-appointed and comfortable, with all the necessary amenities for a relaxing stay.
The buffet breakfast features a decent variety, including a live egg station, salad bar, breads, pancakes, rice, curry, vegetables, and fresh coffee. One small note is that the 10:00 AM cutoff for breakfast felt a bit early given the laid-back island atmosphere—perhaps a slightly extended timing would better suit guests on vacation mode.
The resort maintains a no-smoking policy in its restaurant area (except some designated corner space), including the beachfront section. While this is appreciated from a health and family-friendly perspective, it may feel a bit restrictive for guests looking to fully unwind in an open-air setting.
That said, the overall experience—from the location and food to the service and accommodation—was excellent. It is on the pricier side, but the quality and beachfront charm make it a worthwhile choice for couples or anyone seeking a relaxing island escape.

First off, the environment is lovely, facing the sea and just a few steps from the beach. However, getting to the hotel involves walking a short sandy path, so be prepared for sandy feet. While the natural surroundings are beautiful, this also meant a huge number of insects in the room. After stepping out for a while and returning, I found the bed covered in dead insects (possibly due to the ceiling fan). The room's TV was also broken; when I tried to turn it on, it strangely displayed '1980' (a bit creepy!). Service was just average.

If you are picky, need private beach and a big swimming pool - this hotel is not for you. It is a nice small hotel, with small pool, great breakfast. There are rooms that can fit 4 people. It’s a 20 second walk to the beach, you can rent a beach chair or lay on the towel. This hotel only servers breakfasts, there is no lunch or dinner, but you can always get good food at Samed Villa Restaurant. It’s a pleaser stay for several days, lots of greenery on this hotel property, it’s small but cozy.

Modest bungalow, amenities included a kettle, coffee and shampoos. The location is excellent, within walking distance of the beach, cafe, bike rental and a shop.
Bungalow inside with two sleeping places, a large bed and a small one, the bungalow is clean. Just without excess. The water pressure is poor and the hot water runs out quickly. The air conditioner works well.

Great location on Vongduan beach. Very spacious , clean bungalows; nice staff; amenitiesare basic but in line with other similar hotels in koh Samet. A reading light would be nice. They explain at check in that room cleaning has to be requested by hanging the sign, you might have to draw the cleaners attention then they will clean the room. Breakfast is ok, mostly Thai options ; a couple of sweets and more choice of fruit would be nice. The only real minus is the rock hard bed, same as sleeping on the floor. They should not allow boats to land at the beach among swimmers, there is a jetty few meters away... better arrange a porter service for those who don't want to carry their bags.

Newly renovated rooms; comfortable & cleaned. Beautiful private peaceful beach. All the hotel staff that we had contacted did excellent jobs. Enjoyed live music & a fire show in the evening. We gave 200 THB to the fire show men. Frankly speaking, their fire show skills are much better than Hawaii. (Except, no hip dance) It would be nice if the other hotel guests would have given them some tips, too. Everything was good, except the music at the restaurant by the beach was a bit too loud. I will return to stay at this hotel again if I go to Samed next time.

First about the location: the beach is excellent. White fine sand, gentle entry into the water, no jet skis, boats, etc., the beach is cleaned.
On the beach there is only this hotel and several restaurants and bars. One of the bars is run by an Italian who enjoys chatting with visitors, I recommend stopping by. You can easily go to the neighboring, larger beach, which seemed worse in quality: stronger waves, more coral debris. The location is a definite plus.
The hotel restaurant also deserves a very high rating. Really tasty, excellent presentation of dishes, reasonable prices. The only negative is the staff who do not speak (except Thai, and even then, I'm not sure they understood Thai). At the slightest thing - they call the bartender for help and because of this there are difficulties with communication when ordering.
About the room: the curtains do not completely close, you can see in the photo. Completely broken plumbing in the shower (guys, what are you doing, are you serious?), clogged sink by the time we checked in. Thresholds in the house that you trip over at night. No insect repellent (!) - buy your own or spray it on the bar counter (are you serious, in the jungle not to have cheap mosquito repellent in your room?). My seaview villa was the last one and I do not recommend it - there is a garbage dump behind it and next to it a Thai house where chickens and roosters live, starting to scream at 4 am right next to you. It is better to take not the last house, but the previous one. The glass on the veranda and in the house itself, it seems, has never been washed or has stopped doing it a long time ago. You sit and look at the sea, and the level of the dirty glass fence is higher than the chair. This is a definite minus, they do not clean at all, although they gladly took the tips.
Also, on the territory of the hotel there is a smell of either sewage or stagnant water. The wireless Wi-Fi network is slow.
I do not want the review to sound like a devastating one. Despite all the shortcomings, I liked it here, I just expected a higher level of service from a pretty good resort. I hope the guys will improve the quality.

If little things don't spoil your mood, pass by)) I'm writing this review for people like me.
The air conditioner blows on the bed
In the morning you wake up from the sound of someone sweeping under the window, it's very audible. And since this is a house, you can't open the curtain because the sweeper will see you.
The smell of rotten water and it doesn't drain well after a shower. If you're alone, it's okay, but if there are two of you, I think it's unpleasant.
My bike was constantly being moved, pushed close to the house. No one explained or asked me to place it in a specific way. But every day it stood differently.
They don't speak English
WiFi doesn't work properly, we connected it to different networks twice, it was useless.
There are sewer butterflies in the bathroom. Yes, yes, I didn't know what that was.
Otherwise, everything is fine, the owners are a family. They don't care about you at all, they sent me to the most expensive service on the island to get my bike. cleaning on request.
Bed linen is clean. There is a refrigerator in the room

The hotel is located a bit far from the business service area, but the beach area near the hotel feels a bit serene because there are not many people staying and it is away from the business area. The facilities in the hotel are average. There is only one stool in the room. You can only sit on the bed when you turn the room. There is no space between the washroom and the shower room. There is only a towel rack inside and no place to hang a change of clothes.

Been to Samed Cabana on numerous occasions and really can't beat the Beachfront cabanas.
However it's really disappointing and irritating to meet an unfriendly staff at the lobby. Poor service skills and definitely not the Thai way to greet guests. Hotel needs to seriously consider changing the front office manager. All the other staff are great except for one dinner where I had given them food to warm (food for my kids) and they served it to another guests! And I can speak Thai! Absolutely ridiculous. Shall return provided front office goes through a hospitality course.
