Malibu Samed Resort
8.4 (223 reviews)

Malibu Samed Resort ★★★

📍 77 Moo 4 Koh Samed Phe, Muang, Rayong, Koh Samet

"Great location on Vongduan beach. Very spacious , clean bungalows; nice staff; amenitiesare basic but in line with other similar hotels in koh Samet. A reading light would be nice. They explain at check in that room cleaning has to be requested by hanging the sign, you might have to draw the cleaners attention then they will clean the room. Breakfast is ok, mostly Thai options ; a couple of sweets and more choice of fruit would be nice. The only real minus is the rock hard bed, same as sleeping on the floor. They should not allow boats to land at the beach among swimmers, there is a jetty few meters away... better arrange a porter service for those who don't want to carry their bags."

Ao Prao Resort Hotels in Koh Samet

Ao Prao Resort

"We traveled with a rather complex group: my mother plus two children (ages 9 and 14). During our stay, we were very impressed with the high quality of service: we were met at the pier with sun umbrellas, and the housekeeping was excellent. The room was in good condition, everything was clean, and there wasn't much wear and tear. We handled meals this way: we had dinner at the restaurants (there are 3, one for each hotel), and both times it cost us around 1500 Baht for all three of us, which was comparable to what we spent in Pattaya, where we also saw a show (on Fridays). If you don't have kids, you can rent a scooter and go to the other side of the island where there's a huge selection of places to eat. For lunch, we had fruits, yogurts, salads, snacks, etc., which we bought once at 7-Eleven on the other side of the island; the round trip cost 400 Baht. Compared to Pattaya, the sea here is incredibly clean and clear – true relaxation. I was worried the journey would be difficult, but we traveled in the middle of the day when you can't do much anyway due to the heat. It was 1.5 hours from Pattaya, 2 hours to Bangkok, and then a quick 10-15 minute boat ride. The hotel has its own pier, which is cool, clean, and offers inexpensive drinks. For those who are panically afraid of lizards, snakes, and other critters, it might be best not to go to this island, as they can crawl into the room. And mosquitoes (!) – there's a fumigator and repellents in the room, but I still got bitten (though I always do; for example, the children weren't bitten). In all other respects, it was a magnificent trip, and the boat ride to the island was an attraction in itself. I plan to repeat this experience and stay for 4-5 days next time."

"I really liked the hotel's location; everything is close by. There was no street noise in the room, and there were no insects either. The air conditioning worked perfectly; it wasn't stuffy. The breakfasts were delicious, with a good selection. It's also convenient that you can rent a bike at the hotel."

"This is my third time at Ao Prao Beach, and it's my favorite beach. No matter which hotel I stay at, I always make sure to come here for their Italian food. The staff even remembered us, which was a lovely surprise. The breakfast was also delicious. However, the ordered items arrived after we had finished eating. While tasty, the long wait was a bit disappointing. There are no toothbrushes among the room amenities, so it's best to bring your own. There were people smoking on the beach chairs, and the smoke was drifting over due to the wind. When I asked a staff member if they could smoke in the designated smoking area, the staff member pointed at me and said, 'That person is complaining about you.' I just wanted to avoid a problem and asked the staff to tell them there's a smoking area they should use. Being pointed at made me feel very uncomfortable. Other than the beach staff, everyone else was very friendly and accommodating."

"I don’t typically write bad reviews or just any reviews in general but man this hotel really did a great job on disappointing their guests Hotel: First day: When we entered the room, first thing we saw was extremely yellow mysterious water in the toilet. Smelled awfully humid and felt like it hasn’t been cleaned for a long time. There is no hand soap, toothpaste/brushes, or any hygiene necessaries even the shower gel was out which clearly tell you that they do not check. Couldn’t even get our hands washed… Then next thing is the small side bed, I personally don’t understand why they designed it that way but there is a bunch of DUST and HAIR and DEAD BUGS. We needed to ask for a new clean but I think it should be a standard clean routine before every guest checks in… Then next thing, we opened the fridge, tried to put our drinks in then we saw an opened bag of mango for some reason. Second day: We asked for a clean up for the room when we were out exploring the island. Came back with the pillows being thrown onto our suitcases??? I don’t find any reason to make it make sense The beach: I checked in and wanted to just chill the f out on the beach. The second I stepped on the beach, I got poked in the foot by some glass. Then Ilooked around, glass was everywhere on the beach. BE CAREFUL if you’re taking your kids there! In summery, we love the island it’s very quiet and peaceful and beautiful! But this hotel does not respect their guests. They don’t have a hygiene standard. One good thing about it is that it’s close to the pier and the main street and relatively quiet area. BUT The beach is really the worst in the whole island. I would not recommend it and I think it’s overpriced compared to other hotels we looked at. Reconsider before booking"

"I liked sitting early in the morning, before the traffic started moving, which in windless weather produced a lot of exhaust fumes. I didn't particularly like the breakfast they offered; you can find something better in neighboring establishments or 7/11. You have to go to the beach just in time for sunrise, which is a 10-15 minute walk away. It's not particularly pleasant to sit in the evening because of the stuffiness and the local fauna. The air conditioning and plumbing worked perfectly, but it takes time to get used to falling asleep to the constant sound of the surf."

"The room and service were decent. Perhaps with the rising prices in Thailand, it doesn't stand out as much anymore. To get to and from the hotel from the pier on the island, you'll need to take a songthaew. It's definitely more convenient to rent a motorbike if you're staying on the island, you can even ride to some small beaches in the south to relax. The hotel's restaurant has a nice ambiance and is good for a fancy meal. I'd recommend a street food stall I found – for about 200 baht per person, including four or five beers, the food was delicious. They even sent a small cake on my birthday night."

"The breakfast was decent, with both Chinese and Western options. The nearby Big Buddha statue is quite nice, but be careful not to get pulled aside for unsolicited incense burning. There's a beach about 50 meters away where you can watch the sunrise, though it's technically part of another property. Remember to bring your own insect repellent."

"Excellent! It's close to the beach and has a swimming pool for the kids. Getting there was easy, and the breakfast was varied and delicious. The accommodation was peaceful, but the air conditioning in the room was very noisy because it's old. Everything else was great, and the service was good too. It's perfect for a family vacation where you truly want to relax. There's not much traffic passing by, so it's incredibly quiet."
