First arrival there was black mould in the bathroom, ants in the room and a tear in the curtain. Naturally I complained but received no apology. The staff member on duty seemed inexperienced and couldn’t offer any solutions. I kindly requested someone come and clean it as there was no other room available. Long story short, I showered in a dirty shower that night. The next day a manager apologised and attempted to resolved the issues to a manageable condition. The manager also made some effort to make me feel better which I appreciated. The room itself I loved, 705 is nice and the views are absolutely stunning. However, the shower needs a deep clean and some maintenance. Also staff need training around hospitality.

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel and would definitely come back. The location is great – you can easily rent a scooter directly from the hotel at a good price. If you prefer walking, it takes about 20 minutes downhill to reach the lively area with lots of restaurants, bars, and shopping options.
Our villa with sea view was absolutely beautiful and worth it. The view was stunning, the room was very clean, and housekeeping came every day.
Breakfast was tasty and had everything you need, even though it wasn’t very varied.
Overall, we really enjoyed our stay here and would highly recommend this hotel. We will definitely book it again on our next visit to Koh Tao.

The staff was very friendly and attentive, always available to help. The room was phenomenal with the most beautiful view. Personally I didn’t like how it would take some effort to get to the front desk from your room and make your way into the town. I know some people don’t mind it but I’d much prefer to be easily able to walk out. I’d like to mention that the staff would instantly come pick you up in the cart when needed and there are times where they provide shuttle in and out of town. But that was my biggest issue. Overall, stunning hotel!

We had an amazing stay at this resort. The staff were great and very helpful. They offered a shuttle to and from the pier which was great. They had scooter located right at the hotel to rent which is definitely they way to get around and explore koh Tao, don’t try to get around by vehicle it takes too long. The resort itself was amazing, breakfast was great and because its location up on the hill it made for some really awesome sunset pictures. The restaurant closes at 3 but honestly there are so many great restaurants in town that you will want to head there for dinner. The location might be the best part as koh Tao is a pretty busy little island and so it is nice to get out of the chaos so you can relax a bit in peace. Overall this resort was an amazing experience and I would definitely stay here again. Don’t listen to some of the other reviews, I was skeptical about staying here after I had read some of the reviews but I was pleasantly surprised once we got to the resort.

My family and I spent a week at Tarna Resort and had a great experience.
Pros:
1. Scuba Diving: One of the standout features of Tarna is the on-site scuba diving instructors. Johnny and his team are professional, patient, and knowledgeable.
2. Friendly Staff: The team is warm and helpful.
3. Clean Rooms: Comfortable and tidy accommodations.
4. Great Breakfast: Simple but delicious options to start the day.
5. Good Location: Within walking distance to many restaurants. About 10-15 minute walk from the beach.
Cons:
1. Steep Hill: The resort is on a hill, making the walk back a bit tough, though scooters are available for rent directly at the hotel.
2. Stairs: Might be challenging for families with young children.
3. Early Restaurant Hours: The on-site dining closes early, but there are nearby options.
4. Water Pressure: Not the best; showers could be hotter.
Overall, our stay at the Tarna was enjoyable and the positives certainly outweighed the negatives.

The Honeymoon room was amazing! It does require a walk up many stairs but the view was incredible and the bed was the softest I’ve ever slept on.
Location is great, and they offer a free shuttle and free pickup from the pier which is rare!
